March 19, 1903, p1: "Drowned in Oklahoma, L.H. Hunt Meets His Death in a Flood. Information has been received that L.C. Hunt, living near Ponca, Okla., was drowned during a heavy rainstorm. It appears that a creek near his home went out of its banks, and in trying to save some little pigs he was overwhelmed by the current. The accident occurred on March 7, about 11 o'clock at night, and when he failed to return, his wife went out to learn what had become of him and found everything under water. By following a wire fence she succeeded in reaching the house of a neighbor some distance away. The following morning the body of her husband was found only a short distance from the house. Several years ago Mr. Hunt was a music dealer in Springfield, Ill., and was known by many here. His wife is a sister of Mrs. Angie Lyons, of this city."
