IL, March 4, 1881: "Ethel, second daughter of John and Polly McDaniel, was born April 9, 1857, and died of inflammation of the stomach and bowels Feb. 25, 1881, aged 23 years, 11 months and 16 days. She was taken sick on Sabbath and died the following Friday. She was conscious until the last, giving full directions in regard to her funeral. She died in her father's arms. She expressed a readiness to go. She died at her sister's Mrs. Hancock's, and her funeral services were held at the home of her parents, which was her request, on Saturday at the hour of 3 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Wm. Green. May God comfort the bereaved."
