Nov. 7, 1879: "Died suddenly of heart disease at John Hockenberry's, near Barry, Pike co. Ill., Mrs. Sarah E. Starkes, on Mon. Nov. 3, 1879. She was born Oct. 4, 1813, in Randolph Co. Ind. She was twice married, both of her husbands having died, she came to live with her daughter who is an invalid and soon expects to join her mother in heaven. In very early life, she became a Christian and united with the Baptist church, and has since lived a devoted Christian life. She was the mother of twelve children, three only survive her, two daughters and a son." (I am not related to Mrs. Starkes. GW)
