I just found my great aunt in the Social Security Death Index. I'm thinking of sending for the application with the hopes of learning her husband's first name. Does anyone know if his name would be included on the form? If anyone has used these applications, what information do they contain and how useful are they? Thanks, Cathie
My grandfather's social security application gives his full name, date of birth, place of birth, names of both parents (mother's maiden name), his employment, and his address at the time of application. Doesn't give the name of his wife. It is dated 2 June 1937. Hope this helps. Steve

Dorothy's message was sent to me by a cousin who gets the Pike County mail because she knew I was researching Ogles. And this is my Ogle! THe only thing that confuses me is the father's name, Joseph. I have a booklet that was published for a family reunion in 1949, written by the children of Abraham Alonzo Ogle and Sarah Elizabeth Bowman. They said Alonzo's father was Abraham. You would think that they knew their grandfather's name! According to the booklet, Abraham and Martha Ogle had 4 children: Solomen - died of measles while serving in the Union Army Jacob - died of measles while serving in the Union Army Alonzo - mentioned above Rachel - married Lew Edwin Glines who lived with his mother near the villlage of Fish Hook Another contradiction is that my booklet says Alonzo was born in Beverly Township, Pike County, rather than Adams County, on April 29, 1855. But the marriage date matches up; mine is August 9, 1874. I have a couple questions: Are any of the other Ogles that I mentioned in the book as well? Does anyone have any ideas how there could be so many similiarities and yet so many contradictions? Does anyone have any further info on any of these people? Thanks so much for any help! Pat, Ooops... I forgot to mention I like to know the volume for Balls Bluff Cemetery as well. Thanks again, Melody
Pat, Would you be able to tell me which cemetery book volume(s) contain the Sapp Cemetery, Summerhill Cemetery, and Pleasant Hill or is it Pleasant Grove Cemetery. I would really like to have a full listing of residents of each of these cemeteries and would be interested in perhaps purchasing the necessary volume(s). I understand they sell at Casteels Color Wheel for $10 each? Is it possible for anyone in the area to pick it/them up and mail them to me if I did want to purchase? Thanks so much, Melody
I would like to communicate with anyone with knowledge or interest in the Fox families of Pike, Calhoun or Greene counties. My ggparents, Austin and Corena Fox were married in Pike Co. in 1860 and lived there and had children there. Austin's parents, Martin and Elizabeth also lived in Pike and Calhoun counties. Elizabeth married Robert Stewart there after Martin died in 1831. Any info. on Robert Stewart and Elizabeth would also be appreciated. Thanks, Don Fox DonFox@cybertrails.com
Hi, Pat, When you have time (ha!), would you please check for the following HOBBS names in the 1872 Atlas? No rush, they're not going anywhere :-) I'm pretty sure they had moved on before 1912, so you needn't look there. John Jackson HOBBS, Jr., wife Malinda (CLARK), and their children Stephen D., Fannie J., Austin Henry, Sarah F., Lanorah, Wesley Felix, and Orestes Hillery. For the first 5 children, I have birthplaces as just "Illinois", but W. F. and O. H. were supposedly born in Pike. Birth records at the court house don't go back far enough, darn it. Thanks, Vanette
Don, I have a Lettie Bell FOX born 1884 but have no idea where. All I know about her is that she married William Thomas ASHCRAFT; I don't know where he came from either. Could I be so lucky that you have this person in your files? Vanette
