I live in Iowa and as far as I know it is up to each county. I have never heard anything about it. Des Moines you need to check they have certain days and hours. Monday is a bad day to go to the court houses because they are always real busy. I will check with someone next week and see if anyone else has heard anything. Sharon D.
I was at the Pittsfield Courthouse on the 14th of this month and looked up some birth cert. It cost me $2.00 per copy . Unless this has happened recently which I can't imagine them doing this. They (the staff) would have to do all our look ups and I doubt they have the time plus doing their regular duties to do this. How do you get a list of the Soc. Sec. applications? Glenda Lockett Ramsey of OK
Peg I am new to the site. What is roll call? There are Allens in the Pike ,IL federal census. They are Abner,Boon, Lewis, and Zacchariah. Glenda Lockett Ramsey of OK
Thanks to all who replied to my post about SSDI applications. Barbara, you asked me to give more complete information to the list. The problem is that my aunt is from Michigan -- but I asked THIS list for ideas because it's the most helpful of the lists I'm on! I've printed all the ideas and will use them to (hopefully) find her husband. This list is the best :-) Thanks again. Sharon, Thanks for the advice. I'll be working on that project probably tomorrow. Yes, my husband was of the Conn. Miners - Descendent of the Thomas Miner of Chew Magna Eng. Are you related to Henry Miner of Waverly,Ill., now deceased? SDavis1647@aol.com wrote: > > Annette > I scan my pictures and put them in a file, and then put them on disks. I use Seattle Film Works too. I like the quality of the pictures on CD that I get from them. They will put other brands of film on CD's and will scan from photo's to CD for you. Your latest mailing from them should have the pricing. For anyone not familiar with Seattle Film Works they have a web site at: www.seattlefilmworks.com Happy Hunting everyone. La Velle
Gene, Tell them you little trick about letting me see your three rolls of film via the web. He tromped the cemeteries, went back home, had the film developed, sent me a password type number and I could view his film, download the ones I wanted. Sure saved us a long trip between Denver and the deep south. There's a way to handle New Pictures that hasn't been mentioned. Wolf/Kodak, for one has an option where the pictures are digitized, and you can download them to your computer. Once there, you can copy, send, whatever. I've been doing this for well over a year. Quality, depending on the picture quality is excellent. The last time I did this, a couple months ago, my total cost was less than $5.00 a 24 exposure roll after discounts. Be sure to keep the negatives as backup.
Janet I am also working on putting one together for my mother and getting all of my daughter wedding pictures done so she will have them at least on a CD. She lost everything. Except the Harley's and they had just moved them to the machine shed. Sharon D.

Annette I am related to Thomas Miner also. Joseph Hollister Miner is my ggg grandfather he was living in IN. b. in CONN. I am not sure how your line goes down from Thomas Miner. Can send more information or a gedcom file. You got a lot of advice on how to do the pictures, good luck. I have started to get all of mine either in disk or CD. My daughter got me started on that, her house burnt down just before Christmas while she was in MINN. and she lost everything. So going to store them some place besides here. That project should keep me busy for months :-) Good luck. Sharon
I have a HP scanner, I do all the pictures I want to save. I use Corel Photo program. I scan the picture to Corel photo, you can enhance it in several ways, and add text to it, like names etc. I place a piece of white paper at the bottom of photo, and size the photo with some of the white below the picture, so I can add text with out printing on the photo. You can save the photo from Corel to your hard drive or disk. The program allows you to make the image large or small, make them small on the scale it shows you, and you can put about 20 photos on a floppy disk. Always, Imo Greenwood It works really well, and the photos come out great. This was my whole idea too of saving family pictures. Transfer to disk or CD. Then give copies to other family members or store in safe. That way all is not lost when something tragic like a fire happens. I am also borrowing pictures to copy from other family members to put in my files. These heirlooms cannot be replaced if distroyed. I also made a photo album for my mother for Christmas. If pictures are lost or damaged at the nursing home just print out another one. She loves looking at her old pictures. I put them in plastic sleeves to help protect them some and put in three ring binder. Janet

The characters are trying to get a sphere out of a Beryllium Mine when a bunch of 3ft aliens are there. One character says "I wonder of those are the miners?". 2nd character says "Maybe - they look about three". First character says "*MINERS*, not *MINORS*!!!"
I would like to make a suggestion to people wanting to have pictures put on disks by stores. I have seen many that were very poor resolution! Have them do just a few for you at first to see what kind of quality they produce. I work with digital pictures, scanners and digital cameras. If you have any questions, just ask and I will try to help. Don L. Fox DonFox@cybertrails.com

Annette, I have checked on this here in Denver, but you might go to the Wolf Camera page on line and see if their rates are there. You not only can put the pictures on floppies, but you can put them on CD's. You buy the CD, then can have pictures put on it, one at a time, or a roll at a time or whatever, they run 69 cents each. I can't remember what the CD cost, I want to say $6.00, but am not sure of that. I believe they said the CD would hold 100 pictures, I am sure they are talking about normal sized pictures. Here is the Wolf Camera page. http://www.wolfcamera.com/wolfhome.html Dorothy Annette Miner wrote: > Thanks Tom, I do use Seattle Film Works, but it would be a good idea to > get some of my old pictures on disks.
