Does any one have the address or directions to get to Greenpond cemetery? Thanks for the work on LOCKETT. It fits my tree! Am still looking for Wm. Frank LOCKETT's grave, tho. He died June 18, 1894 in Pike IL. Thanks again. Glenda LOCKETT Ramsey of OK
Barbara Thanks so much for info on Jack and Ann. I think they are the children of Earl Lockett who owed the Lockett hotel in Norman. It is so exciting to locate family that I didnt know existed right in Norman. Geneology is so much fun! When did you teach in Norman? I taught there in1986-7-8. I installed the English as a Second Language class for the Hitachi Japanese children and others. Glenda Lockett Ramsey
I found these Locketts and no others. It doesn't mean they are not there just that the people doing the graveyards found no stones for them. Greenpond Cemetery Lockett, Robert D. 14 Dec 1842-23 Feb 1904 Franie E., wife 17 Oct 1859-July 1901
My Wife said that Anna (Doubleday) Dean is buried at the Griggsville cemetary. This is my wife's ggggm. Griggsville Cemetary: Anna Dean (10 aug 1780 Lebanon Twp,CT - 3 Dec 1854 Griggsville) Wife of Amos Dean. dau of Elisha Doubleday and Mary Law. Mary Law is ggdaut of Puritan Minister Michael Wigglesworth who wrote "Day of Doom". Mary is also descended from Dr Samuel Law, Richard Warren of the Mayflower, and Nathaniel Tilden who is ancestor of presidential candidate Samuel Tilden. Amos Dean (5 Jul 1781 Hebron,,CT - 30 Mar 1857 Griggsville,Pike,IL) husb of Anna Doubleday Dean. Son of Amos Dean and Lydia Hills. Amos's father was a documented Rev War participant and as such can qualify a descendent for admission to the D.A.R. So all descendents of these two people can get into both the D.A.R. and into the Daughters of the Mayflower. Anna Dean was also ancestor to the locally famous pike county genealogist Ella Rose Dean who passed in the mid 1970's.

I found a document in the basement of the old Capitol building in Springfield that was a study of what was in each Illinois County Courthouse, Pike County included. I cannot find the document now. The study was done some years ago. I found that the document was still accurate. Maybe someone can recall such a document or maybe someone can find the document again. ----- Original Message ----- From: <SAXBURY@aol.com> To: <ILPIKE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2000 10:00 AM Subject: [ILPIKE] Other Projects > Pike Co Families Photos Manager > > I would like to find someone who is willing to head up this project. Glenda, Does that mean you recieved the ones I sent? Thanks Tammy
It has been brought to my attention that the URL I have for the Barry Public Library along with their email address is no longer valid. Does anyone know if they moved their site or did they pull it down all together? Thanks, Barbara
Does anyone have a list of natural disasters, such as floods, in Pike Co. that has dates? If you note the map of Pike Co., along the river, year by year, the land changes....more islands, less islands, less shoreline on the IL side, etc. So, there must be a list of floods, fires, etc. Oh, also, disease, epidemics that may have hit Pike Co. I noticed one of mine died of Typhoid Fever. Does anyone have something like that? Peg Spencer
Anyone having more than 10 forms to fill in for their cemetery listings I would much rather you send all of them directly to me in one e-mail, than have so many e-mails thanks so much -- Glenda Rochester, N.Y. ********** .............\\\|/// \\ ~ ~ // ( @ @ ) ------- oOOo-(_)-oOOo---------------------------- Visit my web page & sign my Guestbook Glenda - Rootsweb pg http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~glendasubyak
Re Photo project: I have a several generation photo I can contribute. It is of the Maise, Ramsey, Penn generations in my dad's family, taken in Hull, IL. You can see this 4 generation picture at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lpoland/maise.html If you are interested in having it for the Pike County site, you can take it off the page or I can send it to you in attached email. Since I am new to the list and don't want to do the wrong thing, would it be ok to ask if someone who has this cemetery book could do lookups for me? I live in Texas and I know my grandparent's are buried in that cemetery. I would just like to have the information from the book for my personal notes. Also, what county or list can I get information about relatives buried in Mt. Olivet cemetery, just across the river in Missouri? Thanks in advance to anyone who can do this for me.... Lonna

Glenda, Ann Lockett was a year ahead of me in school. I graduated in 1946. High School, that is. Jack was her younger brother. Yes, I believe it was their father who built the Lockett Hotel. Almost positive, it was a relative anyway, but I think, father. That was a long time ago. Ann married Clifton Gravelle. Barbara

Good luck in your search, Barbara Freeman
There is a good chance that I am. All I know is that Earl Lockett was in the- family. I think that Lockett hotel was his. I have very little info. have none of his family in my file.-He may have been son of William Frank Lockett/ This Wm. came from VA. I'll save your email and report anything I can find out.
