    3. Betty, Thank you. That is it, exactly. I have heard the McConnell Cemetery name before, and the location sounds right. Section 2 would be very close to section 34, Spring Creek Twsp. in Pike County. 1. Re: [ILPIKE] Church of Christ - Farmer's Ridge
    2. Greg Turnbaugh
    3. Hi Norm, That is amazing! Marvin was my father's 1st cousin, and Marvin took me to his church - the Church of Christ at Farmers Ridge - about 5 years ago. He also took me to a cemetery near the church where his grandparents (my GG-parents) are buried. I knew he died last year (1/21/99) and in fact I have a copy of his obituary, if you would like it. He was a real character, as you said, bib overalls and all. He was living in Nebo at that time. We also went to see a pair of stone railroad bridges in southern Pike county. Apparently the trains were not able to build up enough speed coming around the corner to get up the grade on the first bridge. The had to build a second bridge about 100 feet away. We went under the bridges and he was totally lost. He had lived his entire life in Pike county, only a few miles from the bridges, and he had never seen them before and had never been on the other side. Have you seen them? So far I have not received an answer to my question about the Church of Christ at Farmer's Ridge, so I may take you up on that offer. I am also trying to figure out where the cemetery was located - Marvin drove his pickup truck across a field, and I opened a gate along the way to the cemetery. Can anyone identify that cemetery for me. It may be in Northern Calhoun county, but I'm pretty sure it was in Pike county, not far from the church. Thanks for responding. You made my day! 3. Can someone tell me the location of the Church of Christ at Farmer's Ridge. I was there several years ago, but don't recall exactly where it is located. It was my GG Grandfather's church, and is still an active church. It is southeast of Nebo, and is either in the southern Spring Creek Township in Pike County or may be just over the county line in Calhoun County. Greg Turnbaugh

    2. Was the state penetintury there in 1869? You are right I am such a snob that I never would have thought of looking for LOCKETT in the pen. Not that we don't have any black sheep in my family. But he is Pete WHITEHEAD a cattle thief and murder of a sherrif in OK. We have never found him anywhere except the newspapers after that. His family went to OR, tho. Glenda LOCKETT Ramsey of OK

    3. I'm Looking for Nora Etta Williamson who married Alonzo Parker Gray in Pike Co. Aug. 23, 1888. She is found on the 1880 census living with her grandmother; Williamson, Kesiah ( nee Turnbaugh) ( Jacob ) Lucinda dau. age 40 Zurilda dau age 24 Nora E. age 7 gr.daughter My question is; was Zurilda or Lucinda her mother or maybe they had a brother that could have been her father? There was a lot of discussion on Turnbaughs a few months ago but it didn't mean anything to me at the time so I didn't save it. If in fact one of the sisters is her mother where they not ever married? Maybe the 1870 census would show if a brother is in the house, or if the girls moved out and back home at one point. Will try to locate death certificate at Pittsfield. But if anyone can shed some light on this it would save me a couple of bucks. These marriage/birth/death certificates are getting expensive or am I just too tight to spend the money to find out these things? (laughing) Nora died July 2, 1937 and is buried in Crescent Heights Cemetery in Pleasant Hill along with her husband Alonzo Parker Gray. Thanks for any help! Janet

    1. [ILPIKE] Congregational Church in Griggsville Area
    2. Lise Embley
    3. Does anyone have access to any resources that would say if there was a Congregational Church in the Griggsville area in the 1850's - 1860's? In a letter from Lumin Curtiss to Henry Elisha Dean, written 2 February 1860 from Chester, Randolph County, IL, he says the following: "...You had mentioned the loss you had met with in the death of Mr. Winn... It seems that Death has made sad work in your town and neighborhood, since we left, no less than five members of the Congregational Church have died since left there, that we have heard of, and how many of acquaintances, in the other Churches, we know not." Are there church records available from that time period? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Lise Embley

    3. Ok, I have tried to stay nice and not be nosy but I have to tell you I was born and raised in Okla. and I know every community your talking about even where Tuttle is. I will be in Greenpond on Memorial Day if the others don't find it for you. What you need on Wm. Frank is a death certificate from the courthouse if they have one. The records at Greenpond burned with the church and some graves are unmarked because of that.
