    2. PS
    3. In these Census Books that Virginia Hart has, which one has Fairmount Twp. in it???? I am looking for Wooldridges. Second question: I have many Askews and Allens buried in Mounds Cemetery in Adams Co.: can someone look them up for me? Also the Allen Cemetery: it's on the Pike-Adams Co. Line mostly in Beverly. I need Allen information from it. Can anyone find it??? A thousand thank-yous!!!! I bought the three Cemetery books available through the Historical Society, the Thompson Book and the Chapman Book on Pike Co. I can do lookups, if someone needs them. 2. JLarsen, Thank you for the reply, These folks could definately be relatives(and probably are). But questionably, not ancestors (cousins, kin, etc). My John Washington LEGGETT was born circa 1830, died 1856. Your Margaret LIGGETT would have only been 13 in 1830 and Alexander only 16, not impossible, but probably improbable. I'm sure there is more of a connection then we can see with our current data, but somewhere, someplace?? Thank you very much for your time and concern, I hope we can put it together one day, i will keep in touch. PS this is a good site to be a subscriber, many dedicated people. Gerald N. Norm LEGGETT

    3. My books are on loan right now but when school opens I will get them back. I do have the two Adams books that border Pike so I will do lookups in them this afternoon. I had monitor troubles so I got nothing done last night. 3. Do any of you have a Charles McCurdy in your cemetery books? He would have died between 1880-1900. He lived in Pike County, MO, but he had family in Pike County, IL, and I'm wondering if they buried him where he would be close to them. I appreciate any help you can be with this look-up for Charles McCurdy.

    2. Nancy William Henry Deeter (Deeder) was my gggrandfather. You are presenting evidence that is of extreme interest to me. Some info is new to me and some has already been known. Could you please send me, copies of the documents from which you retrieved this info. I will be very happy to reimburse you for any of your expenses. This is the kind of break that I have been waiting for. Thank you so much. Ken Schroeder 937 French Mundelein, IL 60060 847-566-8943 kgschr@aol.com

    2. Candace, I do not see any ties into the names you mentioned, The only Pike County names to date, that I have found connections to are: LEGGETT, FOWLER, BURBRIDGE, CANNON, McNARY and MILLER. The JEFFER's name is only connected through marriage to my aunt Rhea LEGGETT JEFFERS (1916-1985). Norm

    2. Malcolm, I'm sorry, but I have no information on your Martha J. LEGGETT. I have only been able to trace back to my GG-Grandfather John Washington LEGGETT born circa 1830 and died 1856 in Spring Creek township, Pike County, ILLinois. I plan to try and find out more this summer with a trip planned for Pike County. I will save your e-mail and address. Gerald Norm LEGGETT

    3. This is a test. How many Jeffers, Belford, Noe, McKinney, Seaborn, etc researchers have studied the 40 some page "Descendants of William Jeffers" that is on the Family Tree Maker's GEnealogy Site:? 1. [ILPIKE] Re: Deeter Family
    2. I was going through the pension files of James Parrack and this information was in the files. There was a question about whether James was legally married to the woman who filed for the pension so they did and investigation and some of the Deeter's were questioned because James went in the service with William Henry Deeter and was suppose to have married Sophronia Osborne's sister but it was her stepmother instead. William Henry Deeter's first wife was named Mountain, no first named mentioned. She died 6 to 8 months after William joined the service. No children. It really doesn't state whether she did in KY or IL. It could have been in Kentucky because later testimony referred to her dying and she was with him in Kentucky. His second wife was Sophronia Osborne. They were married at Clarksville, Morgan, TN in 1864 by an army chaplain of the 83 IL Infantry. William was in the Co H 2nd IL Light Artillery. Henry and Phrony (was her nick name) had nine children: nine boys and one girl. The family moved from Pike Co. IL to Harvard Nebraska. That is where most of the family is today. William died in Clay Centre Nebraska July 27, 1915. They moved to Nebraska about 1890. Somewhere in the affidavits it mentioned where Sophronia from falling down their root cellar stairs and broke her neck. No dates given. Children Mentioned: William H. Deeter Jr, Henley, Nebraska, Mrs. Gertrude Hand, Mitchell, Nebraska, Charles Deeter, Stratton Nebraska, Ben Deeter deceased, (wife lived in Exeter, Nebraska), Elmer Deeter, Bayard, Nebraska, Joseph Deeter, Lusk Wyoming William had 3 brothers Daniel, Baylis, IL, Alpheus R and James Deeter. In 1913 they all live in Pike Co. James Deeter, affidavit, he was 65 in May of 1923, occupation, farmer. P.O. Box Fishhook, IL. Alpheus R. Deeter Waverly, IL. He was 68 in 1923. Nothing else given. In August 1923 apparently he move to Jacksonville, IL. I hope this makes some sense to someone. The info was rather scattered and I wrote it as best I could. Nancy
