    1. Re: [ILPIKE] James Nortcutt m Alice Mathews 1875 Pike co, IL
    2. The first document I had that listed Alice's name said Wedlock. That document was provided by her daughter. Birth records that I have found show Weddle and that apparently is what it on the marriage license. I agree with you that Waddle could easily be the same. There is quite a concentration of Weddles in Jackson Co, IN where Alice and Jesse married. However, I have been unable to connect Alice with any family there. I wish I knew more! WEDDLE might be a phoenetic pronunciation since WADDLE/WADDELL/WADEL is a somewhat major Scottish Clan. My grandmother was named Wilda Waddle. >>

    2. Why didn't the government take the online phonebooks to count our noses? The short form did nothing but that. If they want to know what countries are represented in US, why didn't they just take the immigrant list and take a look? It is disgusting and wasn't worth my time to fill out form. Will write to gov census bur. Glenda

    1. Re: [ILPIKE] Sarah Leggett
    2. fcruble, As I look at your recent posting, I can connect with some other names. Per my earlier e-mail George W. Washington LEGGETT was my Great Grandfather he was married to Jaley Alice Burbridge, they had 6 children: John Washington (my grandfather), Lillie, Bess, Louise, Edith and Logan. Edith and Logan both died as very young adolecents or adults, I still have post card referencing them in the early 1900's. Bess and Louise moved to Southern California and are buried in Hollywood in the Forrest Hills Cemetery, in a above ground crip. Your reference to Louisa Cannon as MOTHER, is my Great Great Grandmother, Louisa Marion Cannon, born in Benton, Alabama and married to John Washington LEGGETT born circa 1830 (unknown) and died for reasons unknown in 1856, Pike County, Illinois. The first John Washington and Louisa Marion Cannon are presumed buried in the HOLLIS Cemetery south of Nebo. David HOLLIS in the early 1800's was married to a Carolyn LEGGETT (connection unknown). which is where this cemetery is located. Louisa Marion LEGGETT Cannon, remarried after the first John Washington LEGGETT died to a David SCRANTON and had 9 more children. Thank you for your time and effort Gerald N. LEGGETT
