I'm especially looking for 3rdgreatgrandparents John and Fidelia. I found Fidelia in the 1870 census as a widow after losing the whole family after the 1850 census, when John was enumerated. There may also be an Adelia and/or Caroline, daughters of the couple. Samuel, James and Sally E. are the only Vanslykes in Gray Cemetery. I'm also interested in the whereabouts of Elizabeth, William and Sarah's final resting places. Thanks so very much for your help. You've been a real Godsend!

Albertine Reynolds was born abt 1911. She was 18 in the 1930 Barry census. Her father W.F. Reynolds was listed as physician. There was a son listed named Vorrus age 21 and mother Ada. Does anyone connect to this family?
If you cannot find any Tholen family in Pike, you may want to try Pleasant Plains, Illinois. There were some Tholens there and they could possibly be related. I believe they went to the Zion Lutheran Church in that community. A call to the Church would probably answer the question. Hope this helps. Penny

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Frike, Bradshaw Classification: Death Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kg.2ADI/1782 Message Board Post: Barry Adage, Barry, IL, Jan. 5, 1899 John Christian Frike was born in Floto, Prussia, January 25, 1826. He came to America in 1846 and in 1850 came to Barry, Pike county, Ill., where he settled and established his home. On the 4th day of February, 1858, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Elizabeth Pryor. To this union were born four children, two of whom died in infancy. Mr. Frike proved himself a most desirable and prosperous citizen. Through persistent frugality and persevering industry he succeeded in amassing a very comfortable property. In the year 1840, while yet in his native country, he was confirmed in the Lutheran church. His friends and acquaintances, of whom there are many, bear testimony of his great kindness and generous heart. His friends speak only good of him. He seems to have been a very desirable companion among his old associates. During his sickness he was very patient and expressed himself as “ready to quit.” His last words were to this effect, that his work on earth was done and that he waned to go and leave room for younger men. He remarked that he had done what he could. He died Friday morning, December 30, 1898, just fifty-three years from the day he hnd landed in America. He had lived to the good old age of 72 years, 11 months and 5 days. He leaves to mourn his death two daughters, seven grand children and many other relatives. Thus Barry loses another of its old and long to be remembered citizens. The funeral services were held at the house on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. Young, of the Baptist church, officiating. A large number of his friends assembled to show respect and to do him honor.

Don't suppose your Joneses and my are related but we will have to compare notes. I am interested in the path you have found for your John Jones as, of course, there was a John Jones living next to Henry Hoover in Morgan County, Ohio in 1820. I noticed because I notice Joneses. He likely is not yours but it is interesting. Have you found ANY tie with our Hoovers and the Montezuma(Pike County) Hoovers and do you know that James Martin married Lydia Greathouse first, for sure?? One of the Montezuma Hoovers also married a Greathouse. This is so exciting. I have found no ties between them thus far but the Strattons and Hoovers seems pretty tight. Also my Priscilla and your Martin also both named daughters "Rhoda". Please email me at [email protected] Thanks Nel
