    1. Re: [ILPERRY] Nine Mile and Galum
    2. It just occurred to me that my directions to Galum Baptist Cemetery needed to be a little clearer. The directions I gave assume that you are entering the county on Hwy 154 from the western edge and traveling east. Going that direction start counting off 2.5 to 2.7 miles from the point where you intersect Hwy 150. If you do this you should see the cemeteries and large white house (on left) just as I said. Galum Cemetery is on the same side as the house and just after it. Warning: there is a very good website out with a listing of Galum Cemetery. It gives similar directions but states that the Cemetery is about 4 miles past the intersection of the two highways. My Dad and I spent an hour going up and down 154, counting off 4 miles and straining for the sight of a cemetery! There was none. A helpful neighbor even sent us off to Galum Presbyterian Cemetery which is miles away. DO NOT FALL FOR THAT ONE- they are not the same cemetery! We found the cemetery by accident, when, in total frustration, we stopped at the aforementioned large white house to beg direction. No one answered but I happened to glance to the side of the house and see another little cemetery (there is one on each side of the house). Without much hope we went to look at it anyway and the rest is history (well, at least it's a story my Dad and I will tell for a while!) Cathey
