Jonna, According to the Illinois Newspaper Project, two Perry County papers existed around then: Egyptian Spy (in Tamaroa) and the Perry County Times (both available at Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library) Unfortunately, even though they existed at that time, I don't think that 1861 is available. However, I would email the library to double-check what years they have. Anita Jonna <jonnawanna@yahoo.com> wrote: Anita- Do you know where someone could access early Perry County newspapers? I'd like to see if I can find an obit from approx. June/July of 1861 but don't know much about what newspapers would have been available. Thanks!
