(1872 TN-d.?) and Ida A. Stone Smith (1881 IL-1928) who are enumerated in the 1900 census. They were married in 1898 in Williamson County and a daughter Ora Marie (1899 IL-1964 CA) was born in Marion, IL. The census indicates that James parents were both born in TN and that he was employed by the railroad. I have not been able to find them in the 1910 Census. Whether he died of there was a divorce, Ida married Charles Becker of Christian County, Il before 1920. She is interred in Brushy Township, Saline County, IL. Any information regarding the family of James, place of interrment, etc. would be appreciated.
HELP, I am looking for Alexander McClure who came out of South Carolina around 1830 and moved his family to Illinois. I have been told he is possible from the line of William Christian McClure born 1727 County Donegal, Ireland who came to America with a group of Protestants around 1760 or William's son John McClure who married Eleanor Sturmont in 1803 in Chester County, South Carolina. Does any one have any information on this McClure line and was there a Alexander. Thank you, Ira McClure

I've been following the story on the Galum Cemetery (Perry County) being burnt down. If anyone has any updated info on this I would love to hear about it. I had just visited the chapel/cemetery in June of 2005 and had gotten a chance to go inside the chapel by a relative who was one of the caretakers and had taken photos. I was very shocked and disappointed to find that it had burned to the ground. My direct email is jonnabella@hotmail.com Thanks! Jonna __________________________________ Yahoo! I am related to the Cottom's from Perry County. Maggie Mae Cottom - was my grandmother's mother. Reuben Cottom was Maggie's father then there was a Samuel, Simon and Francis Cottom that I am trying to find info on. I have already photographed every tombstone in Cottom Cemetery and found most of them buried there. I am looking for history of the Cottom Cemetery (how it got its name). All I know is that somewhere along the line the Cottom's owned that land and donated it for the cemetery. Prior to that it was a different name. According to the LDS files, the Cottom's were originally from England but I have not found proof yet. I will be going to England the end of October and hope to be able to look some things up there. Anyone knowing more on this family - would greatly be appreciated. Jonna __________________________________ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com

Thanks to all for the input. Mining could have been the draw. James Alec and Martha moved to SE Kansas, found in census, and farmed, but mining later became huge . Their firstborn, Arthur Edward was killed in a mine in Missouri in 1898ish. Arthur was my greatgrandfather. I have a copy of James funeral record that gives Asheville NC as place of birth, 1848. Maybe, it said father's place of birth??? I will double check on that as my memory is mostly unreliable. There is records in the Land Management Bureau of 40 acres to a James A Jones, Illinois, Perry County, but I'm not sure when. THis is my brick wall. Thanks again to all for replies. Debbie

Debbie, we don't have a record of marriage for a James Alexander Jones and Martha Burr. We DO have a James A Jones m. Sarah Murphy Jan. 28, 1846. I remember there is a connection between Murphy and Burr, but don't remember exactly how it goes.
