    3. I have a Hiram Henry DAVIS and his second wife Nancy VIERS TYLER DAVIS who traveled to Perry Co, Illinois from Gallia County, Ohio. In September of 1882 he died and in October 1882 she died. Does anyone know if there was some kind of flu epidemic there in the fall of 1882? It may have been something else that caused their deaths, but I am just grasping at straws. Thanks for any help. 3. I may have that same book in a digital format. I have two old stocks from that mining company so eventually I'm hoping I can learn who bought it out or what happened with it. I believe it originally was on part of my ancestor's land since I found letters that this commpany was requesting to buy some of their land. Kind of a mystery... 3. Hello Jonna, I have a book put out by the Perry County Historical Society called, "Directory of Coal Mines in Illinois, Perry County." It is from the Illinois State Geological Survey. Anyway, it has the Whipporwill (all one word)mine listed. This is the information it has about it: ISGS Index: 182 Company Name: Whip Poor Will CC Mine Name: Whippoorwill Mine Type: Shaft Method Years Operated: 1934-1939 Seam Mined: Herrin Location: 6S (twp) 4W (range) 5(section) I hope this helps. 1. James & Elizabeth Craig Douglas Cemetery Info
    2. Sandy Douglas Hudson
    3. Do you by chance have a date of death for James and Elizabeth Craig Douglas? I'm researching my Douglas family, which I believe was in Perry County in 1850. The members of the family included Alexander and Isabelle Douglas and James, Fletcher, Nancy, Henrietta and Alexander Douglas. None of them are in the 1860 Census. I know where the younger Alexander, Fletcher and Henrietta were in 1860, but have not had much luck with the older Alexander, Isabelle and James. Thanks so much for your time. 1. PERRY CO IL Mail List Guidelines
    2. Tim Casey
    3. I have alot of Mail lists some work fine like this one but I need to do some Guidelines. This is to help you have productive postings. Some of you who have been on this mail lists for well who knows and this message will help those who are new subscribers. This is the summary of the Perry Co IL Mail List , There are 129 subscribers to ILPERRY-L and 19 subscribers to ILPERRY-D. I have also added what I think are guidelines for the list, if you have suggestions or feel these are strict email me at: ILPerry-admin@rootsweb.com Guidelines for Montgomery Co IL Mail list 1.The word "ROLL CALL" is not to be used for Subject line: Use Who, What, Where, When. Email the Perry Co IL administrator at ILPerry-admin@rootsweb.com to discuss Roll Calls do not discuss it on the list, it just takes up space on the server. Who is going to go thru 150 roll Call subject lines , I won't. 2.VIRUS WARNIGS: Do not send Virus Warnings to the Perry Co IL Mail List no exception here. 3.Subject line will not be generic such as "lookup" "Marriage Lookup" "Census Lookup" there are better subjects such as: John Casey/Perry Co IL/Census Lookup/1840 key to productive query is Who, What , When and Where. 4. When replying to a message do not add the previous message to it , delete it or take the part of the message and paste into your message for reference. Saves server space. 5.Perry Co IL must be in the text of your message, the mail list is for Perry Co IL is a genealogy mail list and the subject should be Perry Co IL genealogy. 6. NO FLAMING the list administrator will not tolerate it you will be unsubscribed. 7. THANK YOU"S to the List should be done privately to the person who helped you not the list. Thank you's are important and should be done but not to the list. Good examples of a subject line: Col. Silas Toler/Civil War Lookup/Perry Co IL Okay someone needs a Civil War lookup on Col. Silas Toler in Perry Co IL same would go for census lookup , William Tripp/Census Lookup/Perry Co IL/1840 As you can see I am trying to help you have a productive posting to the Perry Co IL mail list. I will be persistant about the subject lines and guidelines. Tim Casey

    3. Repeat: My search is for James Alexander Jones born 1848, lived in Ashville, NC. I don't know about parents or siblings. I just know he ended up in Perry County, Illinois and married Martha Burr abt 1870 or prior. They moved to KS though, shortly after that. I found Ashville on his funeral records, but not sure if Buncomb County is the place of birth. I found Duquoin,IL on Martha's funeral record. I also want to know how /why the young Jones got to Illinois. Are there other Jones in Perry County? What was the occupations in the area? Could someone do a census lookup for him/relatives 1870, or tax list? Should I go to a nearby county? Any recommendations are appreciated. Thx & Good Luck to all, Debbie
