    1. [ILPERRY] Mary Gladson m. Hiram E. Davis
    2. Bonnie Williams
    3. Mary A. Gladson married Hiram E. Davis on June 16, 1870. Does anyone know her parents. His are reported to be David L. Davis and Hannah Rogers Wilcox. I would like any and all info on any of these people. Mary and Hiram's daughter, only one?, married (1) Joseph Qualls, then (2) Moses Cornealius Gilliam (Neal Gilliam). I have these two marriages dates. Have seen marriages dates in the Illinois Marriage files, but don't know who is related to whom Bonnie Wms..

    1. Re: [ILPERRY] Mary Gladson m. Hiram E. Davis
    2. Bonnie, I am looking through my records now, as I do have Gladson connections. Off the top, I do know that the Gladson's originally came to Perry County with my Killingsworth family in the early 1850's. An 1850 census for Hawkins County, TN shows them all stopped there, enroute to Perry County, IL. Before that, you will find the Gladson's in Guilford County, NC. However, with a bit of searching, I think I can find the answer to your specific question about Mary Gladson. I will get back to you as soon as I can. 2. MacIan and Angela Miller
    3. I just found out what county in Illinois my Humphrey family were from prior to moving to Taney County, Missouri in the 1870s.. My gggrandfather is James Lewis Humphrey who married Mary E. Brown in Perry County, Illinois on September 14, 1863. I also know there is a Mary A. Humphrey (who I believe is James' sister but have not confirmed yet) married John S. Gladson on March 1, 1855 in Perry County, Illinois.. Does either of these names look familiar to anybody? I'm still trying to locate the parents for James and Mary.. I know James and Mary were born in North Carolina before moving to Illinois with their family.. Any help would be appreciated.. Thank you, Angela Miller

I have been in touch with Kenneth House who lives in Elkville, but, have not been able to get to Perry and Jackson counties for any length of time. Thanks for citing a new source. Barbara

    2. Dear List-members, Has anyone come across the book : "Combined Histories of Randolph, Monroe and Perry Counties, With Illustrations " pub. 1883 in Philadelphia, PA by J.L. McDonough Co. in their research? I am sure I've run across it before but yesterday at our local library's geneal. sect. I took a closer look....it's not indexed, so requires a lot of scanning..and found a literal gold-mine of information in the back...17 pages of the teeniest print I've ever run across, first divided by the 3 counties, then by Township and Range with patrons (probably contributors) listed by Name, Post. Ofc., Residence (usually the Twp. Section), Occupation, Nativity (place of birth), and date Settled. Many of these people listed not only their names but wife's maiden, parents and deathdates. Example under Perry Co.Twp 6 So.-Range 2 W..: House, William, Duquoin, Sect.19, Farmer and Stock Raiser, Perry Co. IL, 1853 with Mary Darrington, same P.O. and Sect., Wife of William House, Jackson Co. IL, 1879 and House, George, Died Sept.17, 1874, Father of William House, North Carolina, 1833 and House, Eloise (nee Grubb), Died Oct.1853, Mother of William House , Jackson Co. IL, 1844 The last column, Settled, in some cases was also the birthyear for those born in that county. So far I've been able to determine my Joseph Campbell was b. in Caldwell Co., KY and came to Perry Co. in 1838...that neighbors John Craig, Minerva J. Brown and Hugh Brown also were b. in Caldwell Co. and came to Perry in 1829 and 1830. Minerva married Joseph's brother-in-law William Russell Milligan...not sure yet how Hugh is related...but now aware of a possible connection. This is of course only a partial list so not everyone is on there, but there are quite a few....looks like about 150 entries per page. There are quite a few biographies and community histories, some of them very entertaining, Know this is getting too long but have to relate this mention of Dr. Conrad Will of Brownsville, Jackson Co., who practiced in Pinckneyville..."Dr. Will, it is said, was very fond of hunting, and, for that purpose, kept a pack of hounds, which he would often take along, when he went to see a patient and stay and hunt until the patient either got better or died. He was elected to the legislature, sitting at Vandalia, and to while away leisure hours he took his hounds along with him to coon-hunt. 1. [ILPERRY] marriage index
    2. Terasa, Thank you for posting the notice for marriage searches. Have been up half the night using it with great success. Found it especially helpful for those marriages 1850-1900 that occurred between my families in overlapping counties. Be aware there is no Soundex so have to use every variety of spelling for some.....also it works with just the first several letters if you don't mind scanning lots of results. Example is Alldredge/Alldridge/Aldridge/Aldrich, etc.....just enter ALDR or ALLD for last name....also used it just entering first 3 letters. This site is a real boon.....took care of at least 2 dozen of my unknowns so far. Owe a real debt of gratitude to all the people responsible for it. Marjorie
