Illinois State Archives shows the following marriages in Perry Co. Archibald Wilson Jr. to Mary J. Baird 5-8-1862 Archibald Wilson to Jane Woodard 11-29-1863 Does anyone know if these are the same Archibald? Did Mary J. Baird die, or did they divorce? 1900 Jackson Co. census shows Marion Kelley family, wife Mary born in Fl. There is a stepson living with them named Winter Wilson. My great grandfather Archibald Wilson was born in FL. Could it be possible that Mary Kelley was his daughter? Thanks in advance for any help. My Davis family originally came from Virginia and settled in Perry by 1840-50. There were twelve children all together and we have found seven so far. Thanks, Nancy Helvey --------------47365C3FD10F89E971AB32EF Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; name="PhilDavisGen1.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="PhilDavisGen1.txt" Descendants of Phillip Davis Generation No. 1 1. PHILLIP1 DAVIS was born in Virginia or South Carolina. He married ANN HILLEN September 20, 1803 in Washington County, Virginia, daughter of JAMES HILLEN and KESIAH BAILEY. She was born 1785 in Virginia, and died Abt. 1855 in Perry CO. IL.. Marriage Notes for PHILLIP DAVIS and ANN HILLEN: Phillip and Ann were married by Edward Crawford. Children of PHILLIP DAVIS and ANN HILLEN are: i. ANDREW2 DAVIS, b. Washington CO. VA; m. ELIZABETH HELVEY, May 01, 1834, Washington CO. VA; b. 1815, Virginia. ii. JAMES DAVIS, b. Washington CO. VA. iii. WILLIAM DAVIS, b. 1803, Washington CO. VA; m. SARAH MUENCH (MINNICK), June 19, 1828, Washington CO. VA; b. 1808, Virginia. Marriage Notes for WILLIAM DAVIS and SARAH (MINNICK): William and Sarah were married by David Spyker. iv. RICHARD GILLIAM DAVIS, b. 1809, Washington CO. VA; d. June 07, 1851, Perry CO. IL.; m. ELIZABETH BRADLEY, 1830; b. July 18, 1810, Sumner CO. TN.. Notes for RICHARD GILLIAM DAVIS: Richard G. Davis was a Missionary Baptist preacher. He moved to Perry CO. Illinois in 1849. v. SARAH DAVIS, b. 1820, Washington County, Virginia; d. Bet. 1890 - 1900, Freeburg, Illinois; m. (1) JOHN WILLIAMS, June 11, 1835, Washington CO. VA; m. (2) JOSEPH BRUITT, May 25, 1843, Perry CO. IL.; m. (3) HENRY HELVEY, December 02, 1846, Perry County Illinois; b. April 09, 1825, Virginia; d. January 06, 1890, Ruble, Missouri Reynolds CO.. Notes for SARAH DAVIS: Sarah Davis was married twice before she married Henry Helvey. One was John Williams in Washington CO. VA. and the other was Joseph Bruitt in Perry CO. IL. Sarah's family was from Washington CO. VA. When her father died the family left VA. and headed to Illinois where her older brothers were living. We cannot find where Sarah is buried. One possibility is that she is buried in St. Clair CO. IL somewhere. When she and Henry were having their problems in the 1880s she went to be near her daughter Malissa in Freeburg. Sarah most likely died sometime after 1890. Marriage Notes for SARAH DAVIS and JOHN WILLIAMS: Sarah and John were married by F.L.B. Shaver Notes for HENRY HELVEY: Henry Helvey was one of the early pioneers of Perry County, Illinois. The county originated in 1827 and Henry appears in the census of 1850. According to Don Helvey, the Helveys came from Virginia and settled in the Piedmont-Ellington Missouri area. Henry ended up in Perry County Illinois. His family went back and forth between Illinois and Missouri. Here is a question. In 1880 there is a Sarah Helvey who died on February 8 of complications from childbirth. She is listed as married and was 28 years old. Is this Sarah a child of Henry and Sarah's or was she a wife of one of the boys that we don't know about? Henry and Sarah went through a nasty divorce in the 1880s. Sarah went to Freeburg, Illinois to be near her daughter Malissa and Henry went to Reynolds CO. where Cyrus H. Helvey was living (and other Helvey relatives). Henry died there and is buried at the Helvey Cemetery. Marriage Notes for SARAH DAVIS and HENRY HELVEY: Henry and Sarah were married 26 days before their son Matthew Turner Helvey was born. vi. REUBEN H. DAVIS, b. Bet. 1828 - 1830, Washington County, Virginia; d. Bet. 1870 - 1880, Pinckneyville, Illinois; m. ELIZABETH HARRIS, July 28, 1853, Pinckneyville, Illinois; b. March 27, 1833; d. December 14, 1914, Pinckneyville, Perry CO. IL.. vii. JOHN BAILEY DAVIS, b. 1831, Washington County, Virginia; d. May 05, 1907, Pinckneyville, Illinois; m. (1) AGNES CAMPBELL; m. (2) SUSAN KING, December 04, 1856, Pinckneyville, Illinois. Notes for JOHN BAILEY DAVIS: John Bailey Davis was the Justice of the Peace of Perry CO. IL. He died at 10:00 AM on May 5, 1907. --------------47365C3FD10F89E971AB32EF--
I know that this is not directly related to either Hancock County or Perry County but this is your chance to bring a little cheer to someone stationed overseas in Bosnia. I sent out three cards tonight and would have sent more had I had the stamps. If you have any spare Christmas cards please consider sending one or two out to help brighten the holidays for those who will not be home for Christmas. Terasa -----Original Message----- From: Susan Martin-Rott <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, December 09, 1999 8:29 PM Subject: [ILGEN-L] Please visit this page! I'm probably going to get yelled at by the "junk mail" folks for this one, and it's not directly related to genealogy OR Illinois, but IS important to me and a lot of other folks. My uncle, Mike Titus, is stationed in Bosnia and won't be home for the holidays. Yes folks, we still have US Military Personnel in Bosnia. I've added a page on one of my websites with information on how you might help make the holiday brighter for the folks who are stationed at Comanche Base in Bosnia. I would really appreciate it if everyone could take a 10 minute break from their family genealogy and go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamusca2/bosnia.htm Take your pen, computer or crayola and a spare holiday card and address it NOW and mail it off. You can send it directly to my Uncle (if you love me so much--grin) or to ANY US MILITARY PERSONNEL at the address shown on the web page. Boxes of nummies and goodies are allowed too (and from the looks of some of the big dudes in the picture I got from Uncle Mike, probably would be devoured quickly!) Postage for this address is the same as any standard in - country mailing. PLEASE don't be mad at me for posting this to the list--genealogy is FAMILY... Thanking in advance any of you who take 10 minutes to brighten these folks holiday season!! __________________________________________ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Get your FREE Internet Access and Email at http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html

Hello! I would like to share information with anyone who is working on the STILLEY line. I have been researching the Hezekiah Stilley/Windield Stilley families . I need help filling some of the blanks. Some Stilleys were living in Perry Co. in 1850-- having come from Washington Co. Some went to Texas around 1860 but returned to Illinois by 1870 and by 1915, some were living across the river in MO. Does anyone out there have any STILLEY kin or connections? I have quite a bit of data and some pictures I would share if we can discover any common lines. Please e-mail me. Any information at all is appreciated. Thanks! Lynette Stilley

Hi Stella and Peg Thank you so much for your generosity in helping others with their genealogy. I do know family history is very interesting, and all of us owe people like you a debt of gratitude for helping us. I thought my Wilson line would be easy to trace, since all generations that I already knew of have an Archibald, so thought I would just jump from one to another. Well, when I got back a little ways, I've found more Archibald Wilson's than I can shake a stick at!! Ha! I have a letter that Frank Wilson wrote from Willisville is 1918 to his father Archibald in Mo and one that Archibald wrote to his son Albert in 1919. I would be happy to share copies of them with you if you are interested. Also have some pretty fair xerox copies of pictures of them if you would be interested. I will share my Wilsons with anyone!! Ha! Thanks again to both of you! Jewell __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. All in one place. Yahoo! Jane Woodward was born in IL 8-19-1846. She married Archibald Wilson in Perry Co IL 11-29-1863. They later divorced and she married William S. Chilton 5-18-1886 in Perry Co. It is believed that she was still alive in 1929. Her younger son, Frank Wilson, is buried in the IOOF Cemetery in Percy, IL. Does anyone know if Oddfellow rules allow burial of parents of members in their cemeteries? Thanks in advance for any help. Jewell __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Does anyone have any information on an Otella STANTON (WHITAKER) buried at the Pinckneyville, IL City Cemetery? She was born 1887 and died 1972. I have never heard of this lady and was wondering if she is somehow related to me, perhaps by marriage as I am assuming WHITAKER is her maiden name. I was born and raised in Pinckneyville and believe I am related to all the STANTONS in P'ville. Any help with this little puzzle would be greatly appreciated. Virginia STANTON CUNNINGHAM
Please note that there is major problems when trying to use the CGI form to enter your surnames onto the un-indexed web page. I have messed (for want of a better word) it up and will have to call on a better brain than mine to figure out just what I have done. Please be patient and I hope to get it back up and running sometime today, tomorrow, next week, next month, etc.. I have received this message from a fellow County Coordinator for Illinois. If you can help with the transcription please contact me and I will forward your name on. Thanks, Terasa -----Original Message----- From: Dorothy Falk <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Cc: Carol Ryan- Spenader <[email protected]> Date: Monday, September 27, 1999 2:39 PM Subject: DuQuoin Tribune Hi Theresa, Lovely web page! Today Carol Spenader (visiting from Florida) and I were at the Belleville library and were talking to a genealogy guy also visiting there who asked if we knew of someone that could help him with some typing. I volunteered to post an email to your List but thought I'd check with you first to see if you knew of someone who might help him or had a better idea. We didn't think to ask if he'd do look-ups in the meantime - naturally it's not alphabetized yet. He's had a computer just for a few months so is still learning how to do email (he says). I was thinking of sending something like the following: Harold Fiebig and his wife, genealogists from Belleville, have gone through the Duquoin Tribune microfilm and written in very legible long hand the information to locate obits in the newspaper. Each line includes name, age, maiden name, and the date/page/column of the newspaper. They have asked for help in typing this information into simple columnar format for printing into a booklet and for putting onto the Perry web page. If you can help him, please contact him at [email protected] Dorothy and Carol http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilclint2/
