    1. [ILPERRY] PERRY County Web Page
    2. Is anyone else on this list having problems with the Perry County web page crashing? When I go to the web page at: http://www.iltrails.org/perry/ everything works fine until I try to go back to the previous page or return to the home page. When I do that, Internet Explorer comes up with an error screen and I have to close it. I then have to re-open Internet Explorer and go through the process of going to the Perry Co. web page again. This is only happening to me on this web page. At first I thought it might have something to do with the background music, because when they recently changed the song the problem seemed to go away. However, it is still doing it, but not as often as before. Ken Soper

    1. [ILPERRY] Census Lookup
    2. Thanks to everyone that responded to my request for the location of the Primitive Baptist Cemetery. Does anyone on this list have access to a 1900 or 1910 census index for Perry Co.? If so, I am trying to locate a SMITH (first name unknown) with a wife named Sarah Ellen. Her maiden name is Sarah Ellen EUBANKS and she was born about 1865 in Franklin Co., IL. According to the list of deaths on the Perry Co. web page, she died in Perry Co. on Jan. 2, 1929. It also shows her parents as Willis Eubanks & Sarah Hammond (my g.g.grandparents). Sarah is the younger sister of my g.grandmother, Mary Logan Eubanks Soper, and I am trying to track down any information on Sarah and her family. Naturally, she had to pick someone to marry with a name like Smith. Thanks, Ken Soper Apple Valley, CA

    1. [ILPERRY] Primitive Baptist Cemetery
    2. Can someone on this list please tell me the location of the Primitive Baptist Cemetery? It may also be known as the Old DuQuoin Cemetery. If it is now refered to as the Old DuQuoin Cem. then I believe I have been there if it is the one on the north side of the old highway 152 just west of Old DuQuoin. Thanks Ken Soper

    1. [ILPERRY] Robinson and Terry Families
    2. Robert Jones
    3. More on the Robinson family. William Robinson was born in 1880 after the census cutoff and in 1900 he was living with the Thomas Penwarden family in Paradise Precinct. I am confident that John and Nancy Caroline Robinson were his parents. They were in Perry Co. until after 1895, but had moved just east of Carterville by 1900. William resided at Carterville in 1903 when he married Mary Minerva Smothers. They divorced in 1907 and he was in Washington Co. when the divorce papers were served. But the proceedings stated that he had been working at Sunfield and Belle Junction. John Robinson died in Williamson Co. in 1904, but he was buried at Nine Mile Cemetery northwest of Sunfield. There is a grave there for Nancy Caroline who died in 1915, but John's grave hasn't been found. (Nancy)Caroline is listed in the 1910 census there in Perry Co. with her daughter and son in law, James Terry. I have not been able to find James and Martha Terry or William Robinson anywhere in the 1920 soundex or census. Any help, ideas or leads would be appreciated, Bob Jones

    1. [ILPERRY] SORGMANN/KORDT/BORGSMILLER/WALTA
    2. Pete and Karen Souhrada
    3. My maternal lines converge on Illinois following emigration from Europe. The first place of record (where the families were coal miners) is in Jackson County 1873-abt. 1890 (SORGMANN & KORDT)[naturalization papers filed here] The next place they moved to was to Perry Co., IL where my grandfather was born in 1893 Ignatius Joseph SORGMANN, son of Mathias SORGMANN & Mary KORDT SORGMANN (the father appears to have been a traveling salesman/retired coal miner and mother Mary worked as a cook at a Catholic hospital). Finally, I find the last days for many of them to be where my maternal line [VALTA/WALTA] is located: Belleville, St. Clair County by the time of the 1900 census. I think the whole crew of children were married there, and they just might be buried there as well! Looking for more relatives! My maternal great grandfather was Mathias "Matthew" SORGMANN (b. 1857 Austria- d. 1959 St. Clair Co., IL); emigrated abt. 1870 to Illinois and received his naturalization papers in Jackson County, IL 1887. There he married into another immigrant family by the name of KORDT(aka CORT). He married Mary, daughter of William & Catarina, and she was born 1871 in Essen, Westfalia. I have her father's naturalization papers, along with friend Henry BORGSMILLER April 1892 in Jackson County. Children of MATHIAS SORGMANN and MARY KORDT are: 2. i. WILLIAM3 SORGMANN, b. June 1888, Illinois; d. November 26, 1918, Mt. Vernon, IL. ii. MATHIAS F. SORGMANN, JR., b. October 1892, Illinois7; d. August 12, 1953, Detroit, Michigan. iii. FRANK J. SORGMANN, b.
