Buried in the Jenkins/Jinkins section of the Percy Cemetery there are twin babies: Wm. Robert Jenkins, Mar. 31, 1901 to Aug. 31, 1901 Grace Edith Jenkins, born and died Mar. 31, 1901 The stone says "Son and Daughter of W. R. & Nellie Jenkins. According to a letter I have, the twins are the siblings of Cora Jenkins who married George Gladson. I've been told that Cora's parents were Riley and Nellie Jenkins. Does anyone know what Riley's full name was? or Nellie's full name? Can anyone fill me in on Riley's ancestors and/or descendants? Thanks, Jeri Jenkins Beil
Hello, I am looking for information on the original location of the JENKINS or JINKINS Cemetery which was originally located between Cutler, Conant, and Willisville, in the SW corner of Perry County. The Cemetery was moved to the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Percy, Randolph County in September 1974 to make way for coal mining at the original site of the cemetery. I am a direct descendant of Arthur B. JENKINS, b. July 12, 1788 in SC, d. May 9, 1861 in IL. He is supposed to be the oldest burial. If you have any pictures, newspaper articles, or other info please contact me. Thanks, Jeri
Hello everyone, I sent this out last spring and thought I'd send it again for any new members of the lists. I have a large collection of old family photographs that were handed down from my grandparents who lived near where Jackson, Perry, and Randolph County meet. Most were identified, but I've posted the ones that weren't at: http://www.rafert.org/unknowns/unknowns.htm I apologize if the page is somewhat slow to load, but I wanted to keep as much detail as possible in all of the photos. Please stop by and see if you recognize anyone. Thanks!! Joel [email protected]

DO NOT open any email messages with "vbs" -- It's a virus. I fell for the subject line "A Joke" tonight ---DON'T OPEN IT! Delete it and empty your trash. 'A good idea to update your Norton Anti-Virus protects NOW. It will take care of it.
Hi all, I've posted information on the "Killings in Willisville" in 1914. The men involved were Andrew Adams, William Cooper, Sam Piazza and Albert Piazza. If anyone has photographs or additional information on these men I'd love to hear from you. The site is at: http://www.rafert.org/willisville/killings.htm Joel [email protected] Cary, NC
Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the list, and it isnt a very good one. The reason being is that I am looking for my Calvin BLANKENSHIP without much to go on. I am sending this to the Illinois lists because I am thinking that since his wife was born in IL and her parents in TN, that maybe the Blankenship's moved from TN to IL, then to MO. Unfortunately I do not have last names for the women born in IL, but I figure that if I start shooting in the dark long enough, I will hit something. I estimate the Blankenship's migrating to IL after 1825. I found Calvin BLANKENSHIP married to DELIAH on the 1850 Texas County, MO census. Living next door to Calvin is WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP and his wife, PAMELA JANE. Since Calvin was only a couple of years older than William, I have to assume they are related, if not brothers, because they were the only Blankenships in TExas County at this time and they were both born in TN and both of their wives in IL (just thought that was interesting). SInce Calvin Died during the civil war (there is no record on him except a muster roll, since he was a confederate), he wasnt around when the government started asking where their parents were born. I followed Deiliah until 1880. I estimate her time of death between 1881-1883. I followed William, and he lists his parents as also being born in TN ..... although its a shot in the dark, is there anyone out there that has a link to a BLANKENSHIP's that had a son named Calvin, (who was born abt 1820-25) and/or William (b. abt.1823-1826). I do not have Calvin's parents names or their wives maiden names. I am hoping to connect them to someone who might be able to shed some light on this for me .... Thank you in advance!!!!

I have had to reword and rework the guidelines for the CENSUS-LOOKUP mailing lists and also include subscription instructions. I am sending these below. The lists have been growing like crazy since I created them three days ago and I expect the growth to continue as the word spreads. Please feel free to forward this to anyone you feel may be interested in joining. Of course the more people we have the more help we will be for each other. Please keep in mind that we are only a few days old and if your lookup request is not answered, try again in a week or two. Some of the state lists have already reached over 150 subscribers <G> Others have not been "advertised" as much and have fewer members. Hang in there and don't get discouraged if your not answered right away, these lists will be a great asset to our research after we reach the people and let them know that these lists are available. I am encouraging everyone to send this email to their surname and county mailing lists as well as to our cousins. Finally, If you have the material to help a fellow researcher, please use it. Thanks, Kelly [email protected] (Subscription information at the end of this e-mail) Guidelines for posting to the lists: Established 11 October 2000 EMAIL SUBJECT LINES: COUNTY,YEAR,SURNAME NO FLAMING or you will be unsubbed without notice. By this I mean not only being rude or mean to each other but there will be NO and I do mean NO debating here about the Census Projects. This list is for everyone who wants to research. NO General requests such as "all Smiths in all counties" Be specific, Name the County, Family you are looking for and also the year. Try to supply as much info as possible. LIMIT your requests to ONE PER CENSUS YEAR and SURNAME My Mama taught me that Thank you and Please are always nice too :) A few people have emailed me asking how to sign up for the new lists and what to do. - ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. All lists are [email protected] [email protected] The XX is to be removed and the two letter abbreviation for the state you are looking in added in its place. Examples: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] 2. So, send an email to the one of your choice (make sure to have the state). Put NOTHING in the subject line. In the body of the email write only: subscribe Then send it on :) 3. POSTING to the new census lists: A. Send it to [email protected] (supply the two letter state code for the XX again) B: Subject line MUST have the following: County/Year/Surname Example: Saginaw/1850/Smith C: In the body of the email: List whom you are looking for. Supply as much information as you can. Birthplace, ages, occupation, etc. D: Mail it on! That's it folks :) I hope that helped. I have put the list of states and two letter codes below for you. The mystery of the photo I mentioned in a previous e-mail is now solved. It is definitely a photo of Daniel Gill, his wife Lucinda Pyle, their daughter Alara Gill (b. 1859), and Daniel's younger sister, Isabelle "Belle" Gill (b. 1857). By using techniques to date the style of dress, and also knowing the approximates ages of the four people involved, we know the photo was probably taken about 1873. It is a carte-de-visite, and has the studio imprint of Stacy & Wheatly, DuQuoin. It's embarrassing that I didn't think of it before, but I was so intent on finding two sisters that I didn't think about the fact the two girls in the photo could be aunt and niece, but only a few years apart. I had forgotten that Isabelle was enumerated with Daniel and Lucinda on the 1870 Perry Co. census. Daniel's and Isabelle's father, George Washington Gill, died in 1863, and their mother, Martha Pelisha "Patsy" (Gresham) Gill died in 1867. Isabelle would have been only ten years old, and apparently went to live with her older brother and his wife. Alara Gill was an only child, and since the two girls were so close in age, they must have been raised as sisters. These photos showed up in a box in Carthage, MO along with other photos of the Taylor and Gill familes. My immediate Taylor/Gill line moved from DuQuoin to Jasper Co., MO in 1868. Not only did they apparently bring family photos with them, but their families back in DuQuoin must have sent many photos to them through the mail. Even though I have already thanked them privately, I want to say 'thanks" again to Jeanette and Stella, who sent info and suggestions to me in an effort to help solve the mystery. I am seeking information regarding Daniel Gill (b. 18 Nov 1834) to George Washington Gill. Daniel married Lucinda Pyle, daughter of Catherine Dry and Hiram Pyle. I only have one child listed for them - a daughter, Alara Gill. Does anyone have other children listed for Daniel and Lucinda that may not have lived into early adulthood? The reason I am asking is we have found an old photo that we think may be Daniel & Lucinda with two teenage girls. If one is Alara, who is the other one? Perhaps the photo is not of Daniel & Lucinda, but we are trying to make sure. In addition, if you know of any descendants of Alara and her husband, George Erwin, please let me know. Cheryl F. If you would like to know if you are still subscribed to any rootsweb mailing list all you need to do is to go to http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ type in your e-mail address and ask for all of the lists you are subscribed to and you will receive a list. Much better than sending a test message to the entire list. If you still are not sure - post a query. T List Owner

Jean, Thanks for the tip on shutting off the plug-ins. Learn something new every day with these computer contraptions. That seems to have fixed the problem on the Perry County web page. I set it up to prompt me each time, and I can live with one more keystroke. Keep up the good work. We all appreciate your efforts. Ken Soper
