Esquire is the title given to JP'S and Lawyers. I am curious what was the criterea for becoming a JP. Were they elected or what, if anyone knows. He died in 1889. His name is not listed on the Perry County JP's list. Any information would be appreceated greatly. Virginia STANTON CUNNINGHAM

I would like to invite anyone who sends off for an obituary to e-mail me a copy and I can put it online. I also would suggest that if you e-mail me please use my alternate e-mail address [email protected] . This address has bounced more in the past few days than a rubber ball. Good luck! 3. Virginia, Just looking in the Perry Co., History book and they mention many of the mines. In one paragraph it says: Around the turn of the century there were the Jupiter mines, numbered 1 through 5, Greenwood, Howell, Davis, Majestic and Browning mines. It goes on but no just the Majestic, but there is a small photo of the Majestic Mine - 1905-1954. The books index mentions these people with the surname House: Almira 231, Amy Marie 175, Jacob 133, Vallie Edward 132. Thats all I found. Joshua had numerous descendants who lived in Jackson, Randolph, and Perry Counties in IL as well as other places. If you have any information on the family that you are willing to share please let me know. Thanks. Joel [email protected] Cary, NC http://www.mindspring.com/~jsruss/

    3. Well thank you to Cindy Mounce for her generous donation of her indexes of obituaries between the years of 1867 to 1925 (some are not on line yet, please be patient). This is an index only but gives excellent information on obtaining the actual obituary. With this addition I have gotten brave enough to insert a search engine on the main Perry County Page. I will keep the search engine updated as I upload the remaining years. Please check it out and see if you can find your missing family member or just more information about them. I also would like to see if anyone has any of the news articles relating to the "cyclone" that struck Mount Vernon in February 1888. I was fascinated to see the number of deaths attributed to the cyclone and would love to get more information on it. Please I also would like everyone to submit information (i.e. obituaries, marriage licenses, etc.) for the site. This site has been really quiet lately and since I am now at home all day I think we can really beef up the pages and add valuable information.
