    3. go directly to http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/FamHist.html or, our home page http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html I have just "finished" bringing up a new webpage to assist genealogists who have roots in PERRY AND JACKSON COUNTIES, connected with the Regular or Primitive Baptist Church. Unfortunately many of the records have not been located, but such as we have, we share here. This link is intended as a tool, or index, to information included in our library materials. Obituaries, writings, records, minutes, and other original source documents which may be of help are in our collection, and the web site with its listings of SURNAMES ties to our database which gives additional information, and also serves as an index to more detailed information, photos, etc. We are glad to help researchers within the limits of our time as volunteers (who also must work for a living), and glad to share a better understanding of the church of which these pioneers were members. Will be glad to hear what you all think. Sign our guest book and let us know, if you see a surname you are searching for. Happy hunting!!!! 1. [ILPERRY] HINCKLEY/EGGERS/REIDELBERGER
    2. Michelle Robinson
    3. I am new to this list, so I thought that I would send out a message of which surnames that I am researching. HINCKLEY, George M.; b about 1820, from NY; married Philena A. ROSS; b 1827 in MA; married in 1843 in Perry Co, IL. Philena is buried in Old DuQuoin Cemetery, according to one record. They had at least two children, E.M. b 1852 and George Allen, b 1845. Both born in Illinois. George Allen married Annie RICHARDS in 1869 and had 5 children; Milford Lowe, Edward Martin, Lena, Lyla, and Oliver. Milford married Dara (Dora) KNIGHT, and Edward married Retta STONE. Edward and Retta had at least one child, Harry Edward, born in 1903; married Madge REIDELBERGER, daughter of Peter Henry REIDELBERGER. Harry and Madge are my ggrandparents. Harry and Madge had three children that I know of. Once was Harry who died when he was 26 days old, Harold Martin "uncle Pete", and Evelyn. Evelyn married Harold Joseph EGGERS (see below). EGGERS, William Arthur. I can not trace this line at all! All I know is that William married Emma VOYLES and adopted my grandfather, Harold Joseph EGGERS. I believe that this was his second marriage, his first being to May MALONEY. Both marriages occurred in St. Louis, as well as Harold's birth (according to his obit) and then somewhere along the way, William and Emma moved with Harold to DuQuoin, where he married Evelyn HINCKLEY. William supposedly went by the name of Art. I have several locations for him, St. Louis, East St. Louis, Litchfield, DuQuoin. I'm sorry for the length of this, I wanted to give everything that I had, in case someone might be researching the same line. Would love to hear from you if you are! Thanks! 1. [ILPERRY] Gocher/Goucher/ Reeves
    2. Flo
    3. Hello, Is anyone researching the Gocher family in Perry County? I find two Gocher families living close to Hardin H. Reeves family on the 1860 Perry County census. In household 1054 there is Leonard Gocher, age 24, farmer, born in Illinois with wife, Susannah, age 21. born in Illinois. They have a son, Allin, age 1. Hardin H. Reeves family is in household 1057. There is also, a Martha Gocher, age 45, born in TN, with several children living in household 1052. Hardin H. Reeves had a daughter, Rebecca, who married George Quincy Loman. She is listed as born in 1853. On her death certificate it list her mother's maiden name as Gotre. I have recently found out Rebecca told family she was adopted and was very sad in her later years because she could not find out about her people. I know this is a long shot, but could this Goucher/Gocher family be the same one Rebecca's son remembered as Gotre. He is the one who gave the information on her birth certificate. Perhaps it was how they pronounced it, or perhaps he had forgotten or did not know how to spell it when his mother died. I find this same Goucher family living by Hardin H. Reeves in 1850 in Perry County, Illinois. Does anyone have any information on them. Does anyone know if there were adoption records kept in the early 1850's. If my Rebecca was an adopted child, it appears to me the Reeves would have gotten the child from someone living close by. In the early 1850's families did not travel very far to do anything. All help or suggestions appreciated. Rebecca has been dead since 1913, she was my great-grandmother, but I would love to solve the puzzle about her people for her and for her descendants. Thanks, Flora

    1. [ILPERRY] 1860 PERRY Co. Census
    2. As a followup to yesterday's note, Jean has fixed the problem with opening page 8 of the 1860 census. I also heard from Marge Van Hemert that the RootsWeb link to this census is still available. Apparently they merely changed the web address from what I had. The current address is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/il/perry/perry.htm This site also contains an alphabetized index of the census and will tell you what page the individuals will be found on. Many thanks to all those who replied to my posting. Ken Soper Researching SOPER, SOAPER, VOIGHT, HIGGERSON, EUBANKS, EXUM, FORSEE, BRIGGS in Perry, Randolph, Franklin, and Jackson Counties

    1. [ILPERRY] 1860 Census Update
    2. Jean, Thanks for all the hard work you are doing on the Perry County page. For some reason, I cannot get page 8 of the 1860 Census to open. The other 11 pages open just fine. I keep getting a message stating "unable to locate file name". Speaking of the 1860 census, up until about a year ago Rootsweb had the entire Perry County 1860 census available for viewing on-line. This census had been transcribed by Stella Runyon as part of the USGenWeb Census Project. About the time that Ancestry.com took over the financing of RootsWeb, this census and many others suddenly could not be accessed. Apparently they figured that is might hurt business for Ancestry.com membership if these records were still available for free. Keep up the excellent work you are doing. Ken Soper

    3. Hi Perry's lists, This is my first time to be here. I am wonder if it is possible to get 1891 and 1893 birth certificate in Perry County, Illinois or wherever it is at. My great grandparents, John Henry Carter and Mary Alice Souther Carter, had their 2 children born in Pinckneyville, Illinois. Names of the children are: William Omer Carter, born Nov. 17, 1891 Lillie Blanche Carter, born May 13, 1893 Is anybody here searching on Carter's and Souther's lines?? John Henry Carter's parents is Douglas Carter and Sarah C. Vantrease. They have 4 children: Alfred Carter, born abt. 1866, Ellie Carter, born 1867, Henry Carter, born 1869, Sam Carter, born abt. 1872. I do not know the whereabout of the children, only my great grandfather, John Henry Carter. Later on, their father, Douglas Carter, had died in Illinois abt. 1873, and his wife, Sarah C. Vantrease Carter had remarried again to Giles Kelley in 1877, Saline County. Any information is much appreciated. Let me know about the birth certificates. Many many thank. Sincerely, Teresa Young

    3. I'm looking for suggestions and, or help, with church records. My ancestors lived in Pinckneyville in the 1850's until their deaths in the 1900's. Church records from St Paul's, established in 1874, show the younger childrens' births. If records aren't in the lutheran church, was there another church and where would I find the records for the families? Eileen Kunz Nelson

    3. Got this from another list I'm on. Sorry if this has already sent. Thought the word would spread. Subject: [PAERIE] Genealogy Spam Update Date: Fri, 09 Mar 2001 07:28:46 -0800 From: Linda To: [email protected] It looks like the fictitious Family Discovery genealogy service has moved to Prodigy now. I contacted Prodigy this morning and they have asked that anyone who receives solicitation email from familydiscovery.com to take the following steps immediately: 1) Forward the entire Family Discovery message to: [email protected] 2) Include the following information (most of which was provided by Rita from the Oconto County, WI list): Please note that the attached message is now being sent through your ISP service. They have been reported to various State Attorney General's Office on computer fraud, but it is hard to catch up with them. Originally the "company" linked to free information sites and placed the pages in "frames" so that it looked like it was their own work. Customers paid for that information. The scam, now, is paying for the free information links and then they "move" frequently and leave their paid-up customers without services. 3) Post these same instructions on any other lists today so that Prodigy has a better chance of finding the spammers. -- Linda Emerson Coordinator - Union Township, Erie County, Pennsylvania http://www.rootsweb.com/~paerie/townships/Union.htm Kay M.
