Hi listers, I have a friend that has a death certificate for an ancestor who died in the 1880's (Sorry, she didn't tell me the exact year) where the 'signature' in the blank for Mortuary/Funeral Home is: neighbors My friend insists that 'Their neighbors took care of the morticians duties'. I feel more inclined to believe the Mortician/Funeral Director was Neighbors Mortuary. Is there anyone who can check a city directory for me? I can't believe that just anybody could embalm a body! E.
