I'm thinking you could write to Public Relations at Saint Francis Medical Center, 539 NE Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61637 and ask for your mother's 'front' sheets of these dates she was admitted (perhaps Jan. 1978 through Jan. 1980). You don't want to mention adoption, because, sadly enough, that still puts out a red flag and may delay communication from Saint Francis. It might be good to get ideas about how to word your letter from an adoption support group in your area. You can also write or call "Healing Hearts, Inc., PO Box 606, Normal, Illinois 61761" and direct your letter to Marilyn Strohkirch (phone; 309-379-5401). This is an adoption search and support group in central Illinois. My heart goes out to you as information is hard to come by--I was almost given up, and at least five siblings were given up (the family has been reunited with the five) for adoption.
