Hello All I am looking for any ideas as to where to look for information regarding an orphanage that existed in Peoria in the late 1800's. My gggrandfather Robert W. Humphrey, died in Nov 1886 in Maroa, IL. Sometime after that his wife put their two sons, William and Joseph, in the Peoria Orphanage. In May of 1887 a daughter was born we do not know if she was put in the orphanage or not. At some point in time prior to their departure for NE Robert's mother and brothers came and adopted the boys, the 1900 Census shows the family in Lincoln Co., NE. Joseph returned to Peoria at some point in time and apparently died of suicide there in about 1933, I would also be interested in getting more information about him and confirmation of his death.
