I would suggest writing to the Glasford Gazette, PO Box 260, Zip 61533. They covered that area's news quite a bit in those days. Perhaps, too, there was a Farmington paper then that would be archived in the Macomb, IL Western Ill University archives. I don't have a URL immediately available for either location, but you should be able to find WIU's library by doing a search. Good luck -- the only thing I have in my database on a Ewing for that area is William Oliver Ewing who was born in Perry Co., PA in 1841. Perhaps he was a brother. In some other papers I have just received I see that there was a Richard Ewing also in the area, said to be William's twin brother and that they were both working as farmhands for different Bird families around Bird's corners, near Trivoli, in 1860. I know from a quick look at the papers that William Ewing and his Bird wife moved to Missouri for a time, then to Chicago, then, eventually, to Yates City, IL, not too far from Trivoli up in Knox Co. I don't see, right now, any reference to a Jane sister, but I'll look more carefully later. The papers are mostly about the Bird families of the area. Paul in Bflo
