Hi, My Waters ancestors were also from Brimfield....some of them moved away to Iowa in 1870's. When did the town had their name changed from Charleston? Or the name 'Brimfield' was always somewhere in the area near Charleston and new settlers referred to Brimfield more often so long that the name 'Charleston' was sort of pushed aside into oblivion.... and at the same time, the area oldtimers who had known and preferred 'Charleston' died away. This could be the reason why we have difficulties to pinpoint the exact date of the name change. Mike swIowa
