    1. RE: [ILPEORIA-L] ADAMS - JONES
    2. Weaver, Judy
    3. OK, first I will say we have too many James' and Albert Adams in IL. I thought it was bad in the later generations, my grandfather is Albert K., his father James R., his father Albert M., his father James A. and now who is the father of James A? After reviewing all my data here is what I have: My James A. Adams was b. 1831, IL. (1860 census Knox Co.). He had 6 children, one was Albert W. b. 1855. Living near James in 1860 was Alfred Adams b. 1833, IL. He had several children, one was James W. Living in Peoria, IL. 1850 was Albert Adams. This guy I believe was also in the Civil War, Co. K 11th ILL. Because he is listed on 1850 index and in CW I believe him to be born between 1830 and 1840. I have found a James Adams in Peoria, IL. in 1840, Harkness Twp. living near Leonard Jones who daughter married my James A. Adams. Since my James A. was only 9 yrs in 1840 this would lead me to believe that James Adams of Peoria, IL. is someone older then the three men listed above. Could James Adams of 1840 Peoria be the father of James A. b. 1831, Alfred b. 1833, and Albert b. 1830-1840? If so, then where does William and his family fit into this. This Albert and Alfred were for sure not born before 1841. Could William and James be brothers? Often they name their children after brothers and fathers and often cousins have the same names. I hope to learn more once I get actual copies of census records for the Peoria Co. Adams'. I have James A. Adams b. 1831-32 in IL. m. Amelia Jones 1854 Knox Co., IL. I believe he has a brother Alfred because they lived next door in 1870 in Knox co. and their ages were just a couple years different. Both list their place of birth in IL. I believe their father to be James Adams who is listed on the 1840 Peoria census. I am going to take the info you gave and check date feasibility and do some more research. You are the first person I have found researching this line. I was beginning to think I was the only descendent. I have lots of info from James A. Adams down. I have William ADAMS, b 1814/5 in NH, m Martha CHICHESTER 1842 in Peoria Co, Ch: Albert and Alfred (twins) and possibly William and James. I do not have parents of first William. Wm m 2nd Mary Greenman 1852 in Peoria Co IL. They had a possible 9 children. My information is open for discussion. In other words, I don't know how accurate my information is except for marriage dates and place and birth of the twins on 2 Oct 1841. That date does not fit well with the first marriage date, but that is another question. I would be happy to compare notes and exchange information. 1. [ILPEORIA-L] Edwin Metcalf

    3. I am looking for Edwin Metcalf, he married Sarah Major in 1876 in Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa and apparently they were in Colorado by 1877 when their son was born. I have not had much luck finding Edwin except for the marriage but an elderly aunt thinks he lived in Peoria county. He could have met his wife in Illinois, she went to school in Galesburg according to her obituary. I wondered if anyone that has an index for the 1850,1860 or 1870 Peoria county census, would check for me, he should have been born about 1850 according to his marriage certificate. If I know that he is in the census and what township, I can order the census from there, but didn't want to check the entire census for one name. Thanks for any help.
