    2. Penny...I noted the name Innes/Ennis as one of your research names. Do you possibly have info on Rebecca who married (2nd husband) Benjamin COLE , in Rock Island. First husband was a SHANKS. Rebecca was the daughter of John ENNIS and Elizabeth ARMSTRONG... According to an ancestral file, Johns father was Thompson. John and Elizabeth were in Green Co, Ohio. Now..what I am looking for is more info on the movements of Rebecca and her sibblings...and where she first came in contact with Benjamin Cole. One of Rebecca 's children by SHANKS was born in Joliet, Illinois...over on the EAST end of the state of Illinois. Then, she moved to Rock Island, the very far west, where she actually married Benjamin Cole. I don't find Benjamin Cole in the 1840 Rock Island index...so, it appears he showed up about the same time maybe that Rebecca did. I am suspecting that it was probably from the Rock Island area as well and have reason to suspect why he might have been there. Now..just to confirm that and hopefully hook him up with the Joliet family there in 1850. Just to know where I am going with this.....in Joliet in 1850, is a Levi Cole , in his 80s living with a daughter. Also there...only about a page away, is my gg grandfather's family...Pierce B. Bissell. Levi Cole had first married a Lydia Pierce and they had a known daughter, Lydia, before his wife died. I suspect that Lydia might be Pierce's mother. So..how does that get to Benjamin Cole? Well...the marriage of Levi and Lydia was about two years before the daughter was born. There is ample room for Benjamin to have been his son, he is of the right age. Both were listed as coopers by trade in the 1850 census as well as Pierce Bissell also. Benjamin Cole, in 1850, is right in the middle of the area that Pierce Bissell bought land in Rock Island in 1839. He was absent for only 3 years....during his brief stay in Joliet...where he mysteriously moved his family in early 1850., after which, they moved right back to the same place in Rock Island, rebuying the same land. I have other data from previous places Levi Cole and his bunch had been...with Bissells (unfortunately unknown) and Pierces nearby to suggest I might be on the right road to connect the families...and possibly figure out the parentage of Pierce B. Bissell (born about 1816-20) Do you have any background on this Ennis /Innex bunch or their movements???? It might help me to nail down old Benjamin Cole. Also...do you have any info on any other of the Ennis family of Rock Island? Thanks for any help, Julie Bissell Tupker
