Hello Sue: I am no help, but thought I'd write anyway. My G-grandfather, Richard J. DEADY, was from Co.Kilkenny and I think Kilkenny city. Born there 1859, he died in Peoria in 1905 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetery in Peoria. My dad wrote some notes in which he claimed his grandfather was known in Peoria as the "Kilkenny Cat". He married Mary Ann CANNON from Ireland; I think from Co. Mayo, but have no proof of that. They were married in September of 1891 in Peoria; how long either had been in the U.S. or Peoria I do not know. There is a group of four DEADY people buried at St. Mary's and all died within a four-year period. I do not know where they were from and do not yet know if they were somehow related to Richard J., but expect they were. This looks, from dates on tombstones, like mother-father-2 sons. I have presently no indication of where they came from. There is also a Richard MURPHY in my family tree; he married Catherine CANNON,. one of the sisters of Mary Ann (so, presumably, also from Co. Mayo). I have been unable to even find his grave, but expect it is also in St. Mary's. I have found a grave of two children (next to the grave of the mother of Catherine and Mary Ann, Bridget Catherine CANNON) who were the "children of John and Katherine MURPHY". This, of course, confuses me, because I read in Dad's notes that a Richard Murphy married K/Catherine CANNON. Mysteries linger. Confusion abounds. Answers remain elusive. Bill Gorman (remember me? we have communicated before) P.S. I have a photo of a tombstone of a MURPHY family: "James MURPHY born in Co. Kilkenny Ireland 1831-1904" "Margaret MURPHY his devoted wife 1833-1912" also on same very large stone is: "Catherine his mother 1793-1890" (I assume this means the mother of James) "John their son 1866-1886" "Michael C. their son 1868-1926"
