Lowrie, Esq., a Justice of the Peace in and for the County of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, as well as a Notary Public, duly commissioned and sworn, residing in the City of Pittsburg, personally came Mr. James Adams and John Semple, both credible witnesses, and being duly sworn, according to law, do depose and say that they are both natives of Ireland (West Britton) that they were personally acquainted with Archibald Kirkpatrick (tailor) of the Parish of Bellareshaw, of the County of Londonderry and also with his family; that he had but two sons, viz: James and John. That the son John emigrated to America some twelve or more years ago, and that John Semple above named saw said John Kirkpatrick some eighteen or twenty months ago in Pittsburg and that he then told him he had bought property in the State of Illinois. That both are well acquainted with his surviving brother James Kirkpatrick who with his family and his mother, set out from Ireland with his mother after the death of the father the said Archibald some seven years or more ago, and that said Archibald died some years ago before that time and from what they learned, they have no doubt that the mother died on her passage to America, and that the said James Kirkpatrick is now the sole survivor.
