Looking for the birth family of Donald E. Tary, born 21 March 1930, perhaps in Peoria Co. He was taken in as an infant by a childless couple, Clarence and Dorothy Alice Tary after his distraught mother announced in front of the church congregation that she couldn't care for another child. This was during the Great Depression and she was desperate. Even though his new mother soon died he was raised by Clarence and his new wife Edna Westheider Van Scyoc but he was never legally adopted. After moving to Los Angeles, CA in about 1945, Don lived with this Tary family until he was about 17 (1947?) and then went to live with his "Uncle" Loran Tary and wife Norma. Loran and Norma either legally adopted him or became his guardians so Don could join the Navy. Who were Donald's birth parents? The family name was know by the Tary family and it is said that Don visited with them but no one remembers now. It is believed that Don died many years ago but we have found no proof.
