I am trying to identify a photograph of a horse drawn fire wagon which has the following imprinted on its carriage: "S.B. Chemical No.1" The photograph includes four uniformed and mustached gentlemen with a dog :) Would anyone have information about S.B. Chemical? Was it the name of the fire carriage, or possibly the name of a company with a volunteer fire force? My husband's grandfather, John L. BUCHELE, was a fireman for the Peoria Fire Department during the first part of the 20th century. He was the Fire Chief during the 1930s & 1940s. The photograph described above was in the possession of his daughter, Catherine Buchele Zimmerman. The picture obviously predates John Buchele's time with the fire department. Unfortunately, there is no identification on the back of the photograph and so I do not know the names of the men in the picture.
