A little while back, someone wrote the list asking if anyone knew what a "Morganatic Marriage" was. In today's PANTAGRAPH newspaper from Bloomington, Illinois dated January 24, 2004 there is a trivia column called Grab Bag. It had this to say about Morganatic Marriages: A Matrimonial match-up of a person of royalty with a commoner. It doesn't bestow royal rank on the "inferior" partner.
