Springdale is probably one of the more pretty cemeteries in America. Our Sheen family is buried there. However, its management is not easy to deal with. They charge an arm and a leg for copies of burial records. I think I recall $5.00 per record copy. The cemetery was at one time in receivership. This may account for the high costs and unhelpful staff. The cemetery is easy to locate on Perry Street when you are on site in Peoria. Most everyone can give you directions. One of the bridges crossing the river takes you right by it. To my knowledge Springdale is not up to the modern world and does not appear on the internet. It is still probably looking for a guardian angel to save it. The Springdale Cemetery is NOT located on Perry. The office is at 3014 N Prospect Avenue. Their phone number is 681-1400. The comments about the staff being uncooperative are out of date - that goes back to a previous owner who ran the place into the ground. They are in receivership now and about to be taken over by the City of Peoria (they would be one of the owners). I've dealt with the office there recently and they were helpful to me and my cousin. There is a website at http://www.iltrails.org/Peoria/spdale/spring1.htm that shows internments online for 1909-1952, also the first 45 internments starting in 1857. For deaths since 1905, if you know the name and DOD the cost of looking up the location is $2. Otherwise it gets a little expensive. Here is the look-up policy: Grave Location If you know the name and death date but need the location only the cost is $2.00 ~ 1905 to the Present ~ 1. Interment Card Request You must have First and Last name. Without a first name it would be considered a surname search. Cost 1 name - $5.00 each & a Business Size SASE. 2.
