    1. [ILPEORIA-L] Re: Asylum Peoria County-Ann PURCELL
    2. Hello I missed much of the discussion about the asylums and recently began to wonder if that could be where an illusive GGGrandmother may have vanished to. Ann PURCELL (Ann McGEE>RIDGEWAT>PURCELL) was yet living in 1880 according to the Peoria County history book I photocopied from, however, she appears to have vanished from the earth as far as censuses and death records and cemetery inscriptions go. She lived part of her life in Marshall County when married to John RIDGEWAY and to Edward PURCELL, but apparently went back to Peoria County in her later years. I now wonder if she contracted tuberculosis during those last years, and spent them in the asylum. I've spent years trying to find her grave (she was born about 1807 give or take 10 years). If anyone has access to asylum records, would you kindly take a look for Ann Purcell for me? Thank you very much. Carol Ashby
