Hello Roger Scott: You mentioned Mark Essex, plus Earl & Judy Essex in WA. While my original query related to John Essex and others in the very early 1800's, we know that some of our Essex relations moved to the west coast. One for sure was Frank (Franklin) Essex, b 1879, IA. Frank had one son we know of by the name of Howard, b. 1820. I think they first went to CA, but we haven't heard from then since the 1940's, although Frank was in LA in 1952. It would be interesting if your people were from this line.
