    3. Thank you! Harry could be right as that was his mother May's favorite brother's first name. And it could be that May went back with her son "Harry" to NY and remarried. Thank you, I will try to find Morris, Henry G. on Heritage Quest census for 1920. Thanks again, Marie in Illinois ----- Original Message ----- From: albertsu Sent: Saturday, February 14, 2004 10:58 AM To: ILPEORIA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILPEORIA-L] CENSUS HELP NEEDED Believe it or not, it might be Harry. Consider: the tail on "y" in May's name above has to be ignored and the Ha in Harry is a bit of a stretch, however, I found a Harry Huntington as stepson to what looks like Morris, Henry G with a wife Mary age 36 and stepson Harry Huntington age 18 on the 1920 census Monroe Co, NY. Since I don't know anything else about your people, this may not be a fit, but I'll be glad to send you the 1920 census image if you would like to see it. Harry's folks on the 1920 are both born in NY & Harry is born in IL. 3. The "Morris" is a bit hard to read, so don't know if it was indexed that way. Look for Huntington age bracket that covers age 18. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ELMER BAYLES" <eebayles@msn.com> To: <ILPEORIA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 14, 2004 9:03 AM Subject: Re: [ILPEORIA-L] CENSUS HELP NEEDED > Thank you! > Harry could be right as that was his mother May's favorite brother's first name. > And it could be that May went back with her son "Harry" to NY and remarried. > Thank you, I will try to find Morris, Henry G. on Heritage Quest census for 1920.

    2. Hi Bill, I too have 9.0 and seem to be having a big problem with my computers.... coinsiding with AOL 9.0 installation. I installed the latest version of windows at the same time, so not sure which is the culprit or if it's something else. About the roots web problem, just click on the "manage mail" file above your email; then go to "spam" and highlight the mail that is mailing list and roots web, then click on the bubble at the bottom of the page which says "this is not spam". Be sure that other roots web mail is not in the spam folder before you click "delete all". I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting mail I had requested and this was why. Best of luck. Wish I could figure out why my computer screen keeps flashing on and off. It's why I've not been on for quite awhile. Good luck, and please do the "Manage Mail" thing.

    2. I have just upgraded to AOL's 9.0. And I have found that some things cannot be opened without an extra step -- which they very nicely tell you about. And even tell you what to do if you want to open the message. Frankly with all the Spam that I receive, I am thankful for their trying to make my address safer.. And if I have to make an extra click to read things that their system indicates might be containing something harmful -- what's another click or two? I believe if you add the site to your address book you can eliminate some of the problems. I worked on some that I was having trouble receiving after the update.

It finally just stopped and I was forced to upgrade. My puter had enough space to upgrade only to Version 6; and I wish I had back my Version 5. About Rootsweb mail. ...I'm presently subscribed to only about three Lists; but rarely get mail. I didn't know there was a problem with AOL and mailing lists. Lyde

    1. Re: [ILPEORIA-L] Rootsweb Changes/Spam
    2. Hi Group: My (not very clear) understanding is that in AOL now there are more advanced/complicted/effective/enhanced controls for spam. This appealed to me. So I upgraded to AOL9.0, and it is only since I have been using 9.0 that I have had the problem with AOL regarding delivery of Rootsweb mails. In my experience "complicated" is often troublesome, and sometimes (often) "simple " is better as well as easier. Is this the experience of others also? I mean, with respect to use of 9.0 version of AOL simultaneous with the onset of the mail problem. Bill

    3. That is my understanding too. Rootsweb is working overtime on this and AOL is always a problem, not just for Rootsweb. AOL does everything a bit differently and that is no doubt part of the problem. It's rather like the old days when every computer had its own OS. There's standard and then there's AOL. However, some AOL members are not having trouble. As I explained to someone else, the Rootsweb lists are on several servers. It is possible that you subscribe to lists which are on different servers and that might explain why you get some and not others. 3. There are thousands of lists at Rootsweb. The administrators are not all going to call America Off Line individually nor do I believe for one minute that it would make a bit of difference. Rootsweb has worked with them as best they could. AOL seems to always be the problem. But it is not true that they shut down the email to ALL AOL subscribers. And, obviously, this guy got through. It almost sounds like a hoax to me. 1. [ILPEORIA-L] Rootsweb Changes/Spam
    2. Cheryl Rothwell
    3. RootsWeb has just finished making some significant changes to their server addresses. With some small exceptions (AOL being the big one), the changeover went well. Your ISP will now see mail from RootsWeb coming from a different address and you may need to change your spam filtering. If you are not receiving your list mail you need to contact your ISP and have them check their spam filtering for RootsWeb. They have attempted to contact most ISPs that have reported problems in the past but may have missed some. Of course, if your ISP is having a problem you won't get this message... It's a catch 22. If any of your friends mention they aren't getting list mail tell them about this.
