Has anyone on the list purchased "Forgotten Residents of Peoria State Hospital" ? I could use just one look-up. Thanks, Anna [email protected]
Hi, Pat, I wrote the book, but I don't usually do just lookups. I may be able to answer questions about the writing of the contents, however. Bill McNett
KUDOS to the boyscouts!! -----Original Message----- From: Al and Cheri Salz [SMTP:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, September 20, 1999 5:38 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ILPEORIA-L] Springdale Cemetery, Peoria, Illinois I thought you all might like to know that Boy Scout Troop 132 from Lewistown, Fulton Co, Illinois spent several hours on 9/19 helping to clean up a small portion of the historic cemetery. Troop leaders reset stones while the boys spread straw to help new grass grow. The troop worked on Soldiers Hill on the graves of WWI and WWII veterans. The cemetery in their own town looks like a park and they wanted to help here. Hats off to the Boy Scouts.
The Louis Beck I am seeking was born about 1872, probably in the Chillicothe area. His family of origin is in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 censuses for Peoria County, but by then he is of an age to be heading his own household. Would appreciate look-ups for him. Thanks. L. Looking for information regarding "Forgotten Residents of Peoria State Hospital" Thanks, Pat in CA
I wrote the book. I had a great deal of help from other members of the Peoria County Genealogical Society in gathering the data. The concern of the book is primarily recording the information on the tombstones in the four cemeteries on the premizes. I have also taken pictures of the remaining buildings. Many of the stones have only numbers on them. A number of the later ones have names as well. The cemetery has never been well protected or well cared for, and there seems to be little evidence that that attitude has changed. The records on the patients are supposedly kept by the Zeller Zone Center on Knoxville in Peoria, but the one thing you can count on is hitting a lot of brick walls before you will get any personal information out of ANYONE in the state about the patients. That is one reason why the word "Forgotten" is in the title. It is still an interesting book, however. Dr. William McNett

Hello, Could someone please tell me whether the book "The Forgotten Residents of Peoria State Hospital" being sold by the Peoria Co. Genealogical Society is just a history of the State Hospital or does it have lists of names of patients that lived there? Would like to know before I buy the book. I will check the book I have regarding the Cook surname (Princeville) Sandie at [email protected]
Dear Janine, My Great Grandmother was Mary Fox Cook who is buried in Princeville Cemetery. I understand that her grave is marked as "Mary Cook". She was born about February, 1855 and died April 25, 1885. I would be so very grateful if you were to take a photo of her grave. I would be happy to reimburse you the price of the film along with postage. I am Nancy Andrews Muenchausen 18326 Riverside Drive Beverly Hills, MI 48025 Thanks, Nancy

Good morning everyone! Gorgeous weather in Peoria County... I'm looking for a particular person who wrote me a couple of days ago, inquiring about taking photos of a Princeville cemetery. I must apologize for losing your email address. If you are interested in photos taken of your ancestors in Princeville township, the offer still stands. And for anyone else who is interested! :-) Thanks! Janine in Brimfield
