    3. Hi, I am new the list and have just found a family story that my PEPPER ancestors may have spent 3 years in Brimfield, Illinois from about 1876 to 1880(?). they emmigrated from England, to Chatham, Ontario, Canada and then to Illinois and then back to Chatham, Ontario. Can SKS give me some advice on how I may go about verifying if this family was ever in Brimfield. I do not know if this family would have been there for the 1880 census. I would suspect that they probably worked as farm laborers. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thanks Alex Maxwell Chetwynd, BC Canada

    2. There are some existing City Directories (for what years I do not know) which cover Brimfield in the possession of the Special Collections section of Bradley Univ. Library in Peoria IL. This might - being an annual publication - have some info on your ancestors. There are two nice ladies working up in that department (I am in the middle of a move and do not have ready access to this info) who might be able to do a search for you. Bradley University University Library 1501 W Bradley ave Peoria, IL 61604 office: (309) 677-2850 The phone # is for the library, not Special Collections. Perhaps someone else on the list can give you more specific information. At least this may give you information you would not find on the 1880 census. Bill in Denver If you do not make contact, write me later and I will try to look up more definitive information.

    2. Searching for ANY information on my grandmother, Hannah (or Hanna) nee OGDEN MILLER. She was born in 1894-95 in Peoria, IL, to James Washington Ogden and Henrietta "Etta" Hedges Ogden. Hannah married William J. Miller in Peoria on November 14, 1916. They had two children: Robert L. Miller and Evelyn M. Miller Johns. Hannah had atleast 4 sisters (Fern, Mabel, Lou, Sue) and 1 brother, Lee Silas Ogden. Hannah left her husband and children and supposedly relocated to the area of Gary, Indiana. We believe she died in Indiana between 1923-1930. James Ogden was the son of Samuel Ogden and M. Cooper Ogden. He married Henrietta "Etta" Hedges in Peoria on December 18, 1893. Henrietta was the daughter of Silas Hedges and Armilda Sorrel Hedges. Silas Hedges was the son of Ezekial Hedges and Aletha Druley Hedges. His sister, Sarah Belle, married John Perry Lundy. Again, ANY information on Hannah Ogden Miller or her ancestors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Kevin Miller

    2. Russell ZEARS
    3. Perhaps this will help clear up some of the "Poor Farm/ Asylum" questions there seems to be a lot of confusion.. stopped by Alpha Park Library in Bartonville, got the following info there... The Library property used to be part of the State Hospital grounds. (the State Hospital was a mental hospital not a poor farm.) George Zeller (the current mental hospital carries the Zeller family name, and is located in the city of Peoria, about 15 miles away) had a work farm there with basically no buildings, just farmland, which gave therapy and training to able-bodied patients, and made the hospital pretty much self-sufficient for food, from what librarian said. The old library (across Airport Rd from new one) is beside a private family cemetery which is unrelated to the hospital and was the children's mental hospital. All mental patients that died in custodial care of the state were buried over on the main hospital grounds, now an industrial park development. The librarian gave me a web address where some history of the property can be obtained: http://www.rsa.lib.il.us/~ilalive/files/zm/htm1/zm000001.html RUSS [email protected] Funny, I don't remember being absent minded.

    1. Re: [ILPEORIA-L] Dr. B. G. DRAKE in Peoria 1940
    2. I'm pretty sure they had children because I think a son eventually became pastor. He may have even had the same name and could have been a junior. I remember the name of the church was Trinity Temple but I believe it was independent and not affiliated with a denomination. I just checked the phonebook and found this: Trinity Temple, 815 NE Perry Ave, Peoria, IL 61603 Ph: (309) 674-7920 I have no idea what type of church it is now, and am pretty sure the Drakes no longer are involved at the church, but maybe someone there can tell you how to find out something. Also, I looked under B G Drake and found this: Drake, B G ....731 Park Ave PH: (309) 353-1334 My phone book is a 1997 edition and some of the pages are missing in the front. I believe that a "353" prefix is a Pekin, IL, phone number but can't check because of the missing pages. If my memory serves me correctly, it seems like the church went through a "break up" after someone among the church staff became involved in some infidelity. Hope some of this leads you to what you are searching for.

    2. I don't really have any info on B G Drake, but are you talking about the man that used to be a pastor of a Pentecostal church? There used to be a thriving church on the northend of Peoria in the early 60s and the Drakes pastored there.
