    3. Hi, I am interested in any information that someone out there might have on the VOSS family. I have Edwin R. Voss b. 21 March 1894 in Buffalo, New York. He was the owner of a Sporting goods store, and a WW1 veteran. I know he married Hazel Davison, and they had three children, of which I don't think they are alive anymore, but there is probably grandchildren around that I just don't know of. If anyone has anymore information on this line, I would really appreciate it. 3. I have a Helen Margaret Watkins who was married to Otto B. Lyman approximately in 1870. I have quite a bit of information on Otto, but my Watkins line is a mystery. I think she was born in Indianna, and sometime she moved with her family to Peoria. My mother thinks her father was a boat builder, but that is just a maybe. Anyone with ties to a Watkins family in Peoria? I would like to hear from you! 3. Hi there, Does anyone have any information on finding out about a candy store that was open from July 7, 1895 to Dec. 31, 1905 by William James and Katherine May (Lyman) Davison. It sounds like it was below where they were living at the time, but I haven't been able to locate a census record or a street address. Does anyone know if there were business licenses back then, and where I could obtain one? Thanks, Sandy -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, April 17, 2000 8:24 PM Subject: ILPEORIA-D Digest V00 #40

    1. Re: [ILPEORIA-L] Look-ups Requested
    2. Could anyone do a look-up in the 1830 Census for Tazewell County, Illinois? Also, could anyone obtain a copy of the marriage certificate of Patrick Carrigan and Ann Ryan? They married on May 24, 1840 in Peoria County. This marriage is listed in Section II, Chapter 59, of Peoria County, Illinois, Marriages, 1826 to 1850. I would be happy to reimburse for the time spent on both or either endeavor. Thanks! Kevin Miller

    1. [ILPEORIA-L] Schneider
    2. Hi Listers, I'm looking for information on Karl, Carl, Charles Schneider and wife Elizabeth Kirchherr Schneider. They had a son Oscar J. Schneider b. at Peoria 1 Sep 1868. Karl the father was a traveling minister, probably Methodist (German?). Would there be a birth record for Oscar? Are there church records to verify Karl's profession? This search has been frustrating because children were born at Muscatine & Tipton IA as well as Peoria & Keithsburg IL. We don't know the birthplace of two other children. Appreciate any help or suggestions, Bev Grumm

    3. If the minister was a Methodist Circuit Rider, there are most likely records----conference minutes etc--you might contact a United Methodist Church in the area to locate the annual conference historian's address for more information. If he was with the United Brethren Church, they might also know where to locate those records. -

    2. Hello Has anyone access to the early Peoria County tax assessment lists? I've searched for years to find the parentage of a GGG grandmother, Ann McGee, who married John Ridgeway July 5, 1832, at Northampton, in the NE corner of Peoria county. I would very much like to know what McGee (aka Magee, etc) males may be on tax lists about 1830 in Peoria County. If no one has such a list, can anyone give me the address for the Peoria County court house department which would have lists? Thank you, Carol

First of all, William James Davison and Linton Henry Davison(b. 18 August 1858 Watertown, New York) were in the National Guard or State militia in 1892. In his diary he speaks of being overnight in the Armory for New Year's Eve. Later they went to Springfield with the National Guard. Any clues? Later this same William James Davison owned a candy store and lived above it in 1896. Married Katherine May Lyman in 1894. The Street Car Company, and the Central Railway Company that Linton and William worked for from 1892-1894, would they have any public records? Otto B. Lyman from Green Valley, Tazewell, Illinois, and the father to Katherine Lyman married Helen Margaret Watkins about 1871 in Peoria, Peoria, Illinois. About all that I know about Helen is that she was born in Indianna, and she died 16 January 1899. I have not been able to locate her family on the census, so I am not even sure who her parents were. There is an idea floating in the family, that her father might have built boats, I am not sure where that came from. Edwin Voss (b. 21 March 1894, d. 9 Jan 1970)owned a bicycle shop, called Voss and Brothers. It also had those new fangled motor bicycles. Adlington's moved from Pennsylvania, and as far as I can tell, they even had their ancestor moved with them and buried in Springdale Cemetery. George Torrence Adlington(b.2 Aug 1853, d. 8 Sep 1928) was a 3rd Degree Mason and taught at the Bradley Polytec University. Gladys Mary Patton, not to be undone by her husband Lyman Parker Davison who was in the OSI during WWII, was a war correspondent, and later became a publlished writer with her book, Escape to Life, a novel about a german family behind the iron curtain getting out. I am putting together a time line to better understand how these families entertwined and what was going on in Peoria. If any one has any information, or knows where I can go for more clues, Please write me! Thanks for your help, Sandy

    1. [ILPEORIA-L] Home on Knoxville
    2. My father-in-law hasn't let me down yet. Here is what he sent me: I don't think the young lady named Hartnett is probably still there but she was a good and very dedicated social worker/ administrator. At any rate, they opened another residence age in addition to the main offices on Knoxville. It is in one of the old stately homes in the first block north of what used to be the Academy of Our Lady. (One of the campuses down in that area is located 404 NE Madison Ave. Phone # is 309-637-8910. It is called Children's Home Academy.) He called it The Children's Home which is what I had remembered it being called. It is listed in the phone book as Children's Home Association of Illinois and lists several campuses. The address for the information and general offices is 2130 N. Knoxville Ave. Phone # is 309-685-1048. Luanne
