    1. [ILPEORIA-L] ADAMS - JONES
    2. Weaver, Judy
    3. Hi List, I just found my ADAMS and JONES' in your county in 1840. I don't think they were there long because I find them in Knox Co. by 1850. What's the best way to get an 1840 census record, IRAD? I have found Leonard Jones and James Adams in the index but it didn't give any info, like # of males and females, just heads of household. Also, is there a genealogy society for this county? I am looking for a death index on James Adams, maybe a will or probate record. Thanks for any info you can supply. Judy Weaver

    1. [ILPEORIA-L] Native Americans
    2. HI: Does anyone know if there were any early census taken of the Indian Reservations, or their inhabited villages? Also, are there any records at all of the "captive" white children they raised? Would the Bureau of Indian Affairs have any of these records, and if so does anyone have an URL for them? Thanks. 1. [ILPEORIA-L] Obits in Peoria
    2. Hello fellow listers: Some good news and some bad news for those searching for Peoria obituaries. First you see the answer to my inquiry. Below that you see my inquiry. Hope this helps someone. Bill in Denver Subj: Re: Obits Date: 5/15/2000 7:47:23 AM Mountain Daylight Time From: [email protected] (jmcguire) To: [email protected] Mr. Gorman- We do not presently publish online obituaries. Soon, you will be able to access obits two ways. By Sept. 1, we should have our full archives ready. You can search for anything in the Journal Star back to 1991. We will also have available daily obits on our death notices page. These are expensive, time consuming projects. Hence, both will be available on a fee basis. We have not determined the prices yet. Thanks for visiting PJStar.com Joe McGuire New Media Director Journal Star [email protected] wrote: Hello Mr. McGuire: I was instructed by Bill Adams to contact you. I reach the pjstar website and look for information on deaths and other events, as I grew up in Peoria, was a PJS carrier when in high school, and am now a family tree researcher. I get a listing of NAMES on the website, but how could I view the text of the obituaries? Bill said these may be available in the future, but at some cost. Can you give me an idea of: How to locate them? How much it will cost? When these will be available? > Bill Gorman in Denver

    3. From the statewie marriage index cover page: The Illinois Statewide Marriage Index is an ongoing project and data entry is far from complete. The list below should be consulted to determine the status of data entry for a particular county. Data entry is complete for 45 of the 86 counties entered into the database. Counties which have been completed are capitalized. There are still 16 counties for which no marriages have been entered. Cheryl Rothwell [email protected]

    2. Cheryl Rothwell
    3. If you are asking about birth records it is unlikely that they exist. They weren't required at the time. The state's records go to 1916. Existing records before that time would be at IRAD or the County Clerk. Here's the listing of Peoria records at IRAD: http://www.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/iradsrch?Peoria The Peoria County Genealogical Society has a web page at: http://www.usgennet.org/~ilpeoria/pcgs.html State marriage records can be found at: http://www2.sos.state.il.us/cgi-bin/marriage The Peoria County ILGenWeb page, despite an error in the mailing list trailers, is at: http://usgennet.org/~ilpeoria/index.html It has various information on the data page and Candi is always adding to it.
