Hi Everybody: Question: What info. is there for the area of Peoria, around 1827, give or take 10 years. I'm looking for info. on 2 families: HOLCOMB & HULL In a biography from Boone Co. Iowa, for HENRY W. HULL. It mentions that he married a SOPHIA HOLCOMB. And that she was born in Peoria in 1827. SOPHIA'S dad was HENRY W. HOLCOMB. HENRY'S dad is probably BEN HOLCOMB. These 2 families seem to have had a couple inter-family marriages. SOPHIA'S brother married SOPHIA'S daughter, the way it looks. Where would be the best place to go, if I drive down there?? And what info., should I look for?? Thanks for your time Rodd

Had I looked at a county map, I could have figured that out. In fact I had looked at my atlas for the name Trivoli and hadn't found it in Illinois under the cities or counties. Thank you. Diana [email protected] My Genealogy site updated 5/21/2000: http://www.my-ged.com/davis/

Genealogical Standards Guidelines For Publishing Web Pages On The Internet Recommended by the National Genealogical Society, May 2000 Appreciating that publishing information through Internet web sites and web pages shares many similarities with print publishing, considerate family historians * apply a single title to an entire web site, as they would to a book, placing it both in the <TITLE> HTML tag that appears at the top of the web browser window for each web page to be viewed, and also in the body of the web document, on the opening home, title or index page. * explain the purposes and objectives of their web sites, placing the explanation near the top of the title page or including a link from that page to a special page about the reason for the site. * display a footer at the bottom of each web page which contains the web site title, page title, author's name, author's contact information, date of last revision and a copyright statement. * provide complete contact information, including at a minimum a name and e-mail address, and preferably some means for long- term contact, like a postal address. * assist visitors by providing on each page navigational links that lead visitors to other important pages on the web site, or return them to the home page. * adhere to the NGS "Standards for Sharing Information with Others" regarding copyright, attribution, privacy, and the sharing of sensitive information. * include unambiguous source citations for the research data provided on the site, and if not complete descriptions, offering full citations upon request. * label photographic and scanned images within the graphic itself, with fuller explanation if required in text adjacent to the graphic. * identify transcribed, extracted or abstracted data as such, and provide appropriate source citations. * include identifying dates and locations when providing information about specific surnames or individuals. * respect the rights of others who do not wish information about themselves to be published, referenced or linked on a web site. * provide web site access to all potential visitors by avoiding enhanced technical capabilities that may not be available to all users, remembering that not all computers are created equal. * avoid using features that distract from the productive use of the web site, like ones that reduce legibility, strain the eyes, dazzle the vision, or otherwise detract from the visitor's ability to easily read, study, comprehend or print the online publication. * maintain their online publications at frequent intervals, changing the content to keep the information current, the links valid, and the web site in good working order. * preserve and archive for future researchers their online publications and communications that have lasting value, using both electronic and paper duplication. I've posted a few surnames on this list. They were either DISTLER or SAUPE. While searching for some stock certificates, my mother came across a mother load of names from the Peoria area. I will list them below in hopes that some of you might help put more of my family pieces together. To the best of my knowledge, the entries I have were last updated in the late 1950's. Minnie Distler married Fred Kaemmerling. They had four sons Fred, William, Gus and Herman along with three daughters Minnie, Norma and Louise. Louise married a man named Workley and had a son Ivan. John Distler married Mary Robinson and had one son William and three daughters Myrtle, Cora and Iva. Cora Distler married Lester Mendenhall of Dunlap, IL. They had three daughters, Marjorie and Lucile and Harriett. Lucile taught in a Peoria School for many years. The last address I had for Mrs. Lester (Cora) Mendenhall was Princeville, IL. Andrew Distler married Mary Sipp. They had a son Fred and two daughters Fronie and Florence. Fronie married a man named Buchanan. They had a son Robert. I have an unnamed daughter of Phillip and Fredricka Distler who married a man named Harben or Harbers. This family owned a construction company in Peoria on North Adams or North Jefferson near upper river bridge? Mary Louise (Mamie) Distler, daughter of Paul Valentine Distler married Henry Doering July 31, 1917. They had a son, Robert Distler Doering born Feb. 23, 1925 and a daughter Louann born Dec. 12, 1929. Anna Distler, Daughter of Paul Valentine Distler married Howard Kellie Dec. 24, 1925. Robert Doering married Elaine Gavin Apr. 27, 1951. They have a son Jon and two daughters Robin Lee and Diane' Chere'. Louann Doering married John Ellis 7/3/49 and had two sons Bruce Allen and James, plus a daughter Susan Lynn. Any information on any of these families would be greatly appreciated!
