I'm researching the following Peoria County surnames: LISK - COOPER - BUTTRICK - STEBBINS - HALL - COLWELL - MOTES - SHEETS The LISKs settled in Peoria County in the 1830s, and various sisters, cousins, descendants married into the surnames mentioned above. Take Care, Anita C. Monterey County, CA Lisk descendant
Since I am also looking for a marriage, I tried the site you mentioned. I rec'd a message that I was not authorized to access. Am I doing something wrong?

The Peoria Public Library has a quite respectable genealogy section. It is just a block from the downtown section. Go into the library and continue straight to the back on the first floor. There are usually several people in there who can help you out. Dr. Bill McNett

Hello; I need a copy of a October 1851 marriage record or license for admission to the Mayflower Society. Would they have such a record in the Peoria County Genealogical Societies collection? The marriage record I need is for Fayette Cushman and Suviah T. Kellogg in the city of Peoria. Fayette's parents were Dr. Bartholomew Cushman and Phebe Bryant and he was born in Massachusetts. Suviah(a.k.a. Sophia), her parents were Charles Cushman Cushman and Abigail Drake. She was born in Vermont. Bob Trapp
Roger, No there isn't. The cheepest and fastest way would be to contact the library and have them look-up in the book to see if your names are in there. One call can tell you alot. 309-686-3517, ask for the reference desk. The holdings of the Peoria Co. Genealogical Soc. are housed in the Peoria Public Library at the corner of Main and Monroe streets in Peoria (about 2 or 3 blocks from the courthouse). At times there are society volunteers on hand to give advice and direction. They have many old newspapers on microfilm. Also old city directories ... but I do not know years covered. There are books, yearbooks from schools, various articles, obituaries, copies of census records, etc. If they have what YOU need in the right time period, I cannot say. But with over 17,000 volumes in their collection, I hope you can find something of what you need. There were no B-M-D records in IL at that time period, as far as I know. That may help with where to go. Bill in Denver (but grew up in Peoria)
