I have someone listed as buried in St. John's Lutheran in Peoria co. Where is this located? Who has records? Who has records of baptism, confirmation, marriages in this church. Thanks Sue VanNess
I have some marriage licenses I want to have copied. I know vol and page numbers. What is the cost? Do I get these from the Peoria Co. Courthouse, 324 Main St. Peoria, Ill 61602? Thanks Big Question I have: I have many surnames, I know lived in Peoria Co. (Immigrated to US in 1856, married 1858, 1859. Could NOT find them in indexes for 1860, 1870, 1880. 1890 doesn't exist, I understand. Finally found one in 1900 census. I believe some were coal miners. Does anyone know why these families would be missed for so many years. (Or is the index, and soundex index missing lots names?) 1860: Campen Kampen Obermeier Ojermann Grafelmann Frafelmann Does anyone have good resources info for coal miners in Limestone twp and Peoria Co during this time. Thanks
Joseph William Mettam. born 1903, married Mildred Louise Stanton on Oct. 30, 1937. According to Mildred Mettam's 1999 obituary, she was survived by 2 sons, Dannis of Pekin, and Terrell of San Jose, CA., and two daughters, Ione and Josette. I would like to find out if Joseph William Mettam was the son of Joseph William and Louise (Maurath) Mettam. Other children, born between 1894-1913 in Peoria, IL, of Joseph W. and Louise Mettam are... Rosa, William R., David J., Tracy R., Frances L., Edward L., Elmer, Liilan P., and Lawrence. Again, for Voltene: I looked again in the phone book and find several entries for FRIETSCH, 7 or 8. But none with the first name you listed. Good Luck Bill in Denver
This message is a response to Voltene: In the current Peoria telephone directory, there are about a dozen listings for BURK. You might try an online phone directory, such as AOL White pages. http://www.aol.com/netfind/whitepages.adp to look at the listings. I did not find the names (of the men) you listed, but some of these are probably descendants or your BURK line. I think St. Boniface is in Peoria (but not in Limestone twp). A few years back, the name was changed to St. Ann's Church; I know not why. The still have old records there. They are mostly in Latin; some are in German. I think they would have them for the time period you are interested in. I have seen some and I can read them ; they are in old ledger type books. If they were and remained Catholic, they were probably buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, which was primarily a German Catholic burial place. Records exist, but are often very sketchy and I have not found them concistently helpful. Current office person is very nice; it is just that the earlier records were not very complete. Don't know if this is any help, but maybe a small start. Bill in Denver (I think you and I have communicated before)

Karen Murphy Nashua, NH names researching associated with these families... Burk, Maurath, Striebich, Wiles, Mettam, Koepple, Noll, Defenbaugh, Frietsch, Meyer, Noeltner, Harris

Does anyone on this list have access to the 1870 census for Peoria? I need the following: James CROSON, 1st ward Peoria, Peoria County, IL pg. 266 Would be most grateful for any assistance. Alene
The index is not online to my knowledge. I have a copy. What are the names you are researching in Peoria?
I have a genealogy puzzle that I have been trying to solve for several years. Yesterday, I drove to Canton, Illinois and looked through their archive newspaper microfilm and came across an article in the Canton Register of Canton, Illinois for Friday, November 15, 1872 : Died At Kingston Mines, Peoria County, on the 29th ultimately of typhoid fever, Laura A., wife of Frank T. Burgett, aged 25 years. Deceased was a niece of Col. Moore, of Havana, and was a lady greatly beloved by all her acquaintances. She left a husband and young babe, but three weeks old, which is now with her husband's family in Lewistown. We tender our friend Burgett our heartfelt sympathies in his bereavement. The lady who died was LAURA A. TRENT. She was married to FRANKLIN THOMAS BURGETT on May 4, 1871 in Mason County, Illinois. FRANKLIN was born October 26, 1845 and died March 24, 1875. He was a son of DANIEL AZRO and ADELINE ( MYRON ) BURGETT of Lewistown, Fulton County, Illinois. DANIEL and ADELINE took in the three week old newborn of their son, Franklin. FRANKLIN then died himself on March 24, 1875. The baby would have been 2 1/2 years old at the time of the Franklin's death. The newspaper article does not say the name or sex of the baby. I have been searching for the birth parents of my husband's grandfather ( Albert Mitchell Miller ). He was born on October 12, 1872 in Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. He never knew who his birth parents were as his mother died when he was 3 weeks old from typhoid fever and his father died when he was young. ( The dates of Frank & Laura Trent Burgett match perfectly with what Albert had been told ). He was raised by Wells and Mary J. (King) Hickman but kept the name Albert Mitchell Miller ( although I have no idea why this couple raised him OR how Albert came by this name ). Fulton County, Illinois does not have birth records prior to 1875 and I have been searching in vain for Albert's birth parents. This may be a weak link to finding my grandfather - in law's heritage, but I am hopeful that someone might have some information or possible leads for me to check out. Thank - You for your time and assistance. Carolyn J. Miller [email protected]

There was a James H. Flanegan who is buried at Springdale Cemetery. He was 70 years 6 months old and was buried 15 Feb. 1909. Born NJ lived at Univ. & Nowland. From index to Springdale Cemetery 1857-1927
there is one McKinney family located in Logan Twp during the 1860 census, that of Alfred (28) and Louisa (25) McKinney. He from PA, she born IL (she is a Proctor cousin of mine). kids are Mary (8), Nancy (4) and Charles (1). Mary would be the right age for Sarah Jane, but the name is, of course, not the same. Nothing on Flanegan in that census. I don't have access to other Twp's or dates. paul in bflo
Looking for any info on Sarah Jane McKinney and James Hutchinson Flanegan. Supposedly Sarah died and is buried in Peoria but I don't know where. I don't have a birth record for her but she was born in JUL 1851 supposedly in Logan Township. Had a son named James Bert and a daughter Maude E. (she married a Nelson) and lived in Peoria. Probably buried there also. Anyone heard of these people? Kathy Baker, Rome, Italy
