Buried in Osage, Mitchell Co., IA. m Catherine LENT (b 18 Feb 1821 in Bradford Co., PA; she died 28 Mar 1895 inOsage, Mitchell Co., IA) on 2 Feb. 1840 in Bradford Co, PA(?) [Freeman, son of Nathaniel SHORES: siblings: Franklin, Miriam, Lorenzo and Ann Aurelia. I also find ROckton, IL CW service for : Lorenzo D. SHORES and Franklin SHORES. Lorenze is on Winn. Co., IL 1860 census - Franklin not on Ogle or Winn in 1860 but there is a Frank in Cook Co., IL then?] The SHORES family moved to Ogle Co., IL on May 2, 1856. Freeman SHORES served in Civil War in 45th Inf. (CoG). Listed as being from Rockvale. Children of Freeman and Catherine (LENT) SHORES: 1. Josiah 2. Orletta 3. Mary Ann 4. Hattie 5. Rosa 6. B, 92nd IL Inf. from Ogle Co. which was later absorted into IL 65th (Co. A) along with Henderson & Stark Cos. Josiah married June 6 1861 to Maria B. MCNAMES. Maria was b 22 Aug orSept 1842 in St. Marys, CAN. She died Oct 14, 1894 The McNAMES FAMILY moved to Ogle Co., IL in 1849. After Josiah and Maria were married and the Civil War ended, they moved to Chase Co., KS (1870) then to Mitchell Co., IA (1874) where most of the rest of theSHORES family is found. He was born Dec 17, 1845 in Bradford Co., PA and died Jan 1929. He lived with an uncle in Richalnd Co., OH in early boyhood after his moved died when he was an infant. He enlisted in O.U.I. at Mansfield, OH when he was 15. Served 4 years and rec. hon. discharge. Spent time in IL and WI before coming to Mitchell Co., IA. 5. Rosa SHORES Appears on Census with her parents in IA Census as a school teacher: 6. Jane SHORES Tabitha Jane SHORES b Jan 23 1849 in Bradford Co., PA d Aug 7, 1927. Tabitha Jane (HORTON) & Nathaniel SHORES were her grandparents. Married James WESTCOTT Ap 26 1872 in Osage, Mitchell Co., IA children: Carrie m Zirble, Jay Freeman B 1889(?) and Mary B 1888 (m JAMES MCCULLUM) Jane and James moved to Clear Lake, IA in 1877. 7. Emma E. SHORES b 1860 in IL? d Feb 20 1930 in Northfield, MN married John J. Slupe in 1878? in Stacyville, Mitchell Co., IA? He was b Jan 20 1846 in Switzerland and died Apr 29 1913. Slupe came to Buffalo, NY at age of 18. Moved to IA 3 years later. Children: John Clifford and ALbert B.
