Dear Jeannie, Was down to the library today and asked our Genealogical Librarian about the 1870 census. He said that it is also poor here in Ogle too and there is no index here. However, he said you can rent or buy copies from the National Census Archives and be sure to ask for a "positive" copy. The positive is "white on black" rather than black on white and MIGHT be easier to read. Good luck!
