According to an Adams County, Nebraska, history book, my great-grandfather, Johann Friedrich (Fred John) STULKEN came to America around 1870 and settled first in Ogle Co IL, where he worked as a farm hand. The book also states that he was married in Illinois in 1875 to Helene LAMMERS. I know they were in Adams Co NE by 1876 because their oldest daughter was born there. I've never been able to locate him on any of the appropriate microfilmed passenger lists. I just tried "Germans to America" last Tuesday to see what I'd find there, although I did find Helene LAMMERS arriving in March of 1875, listed as "wife." I've checked with all the Lutheran churches in the area, but haven't found any record of him. If possible, I'd like to learn where he lived and for whom he worked while in Ogle County.
