I am wondering if anyone can tell me when the Methodist Church first held services in or around La Fayette, ILL, Goshen Twp. ? I think that my Page Ancestors went there to services, but not sure when they first started. Should be somewhere around the 1850's. But is that possible? Was there an actual Methodist Church building, or did they possibly meet in houses....etc? Does a membership list of any kind still exist for the early Methodist church? Also any info about an Early Minister, Elijah Ransom. He married my gggrandfather and mother, Heman Page and Rachel Hodgson, in Stark Co, probably in Goshen Twp.....but I can find no evidence that he was ever a Methodist Minister in or around the La Fayette area. Anybody know anything about Rev, Ransom? Thanks ed
