Greetings Listers ~ I just received a query from a gentleman who is a descendant of MOSES and SUSAN SWENA BEAMAN wanting any information pertaining to this family. MOSES BEAMAN b. 07 July 1812 in CT m. SUSAN SWENA d/ Benjamin and Polly Ball Swena 29 August 1837 in Crawford Co. PA. SUSAN b. Crawford Co, PA 12 May 1818. Moses and Susan moved to Ogle County about 1838. 1849 Moses left family in IL and sailed "around the Horn" to participate in the California Gold Rush. Moses family was listed in the 1850 census for Buffalo Twsp, Ogle Co, IL,but he was absent. This gentleman is looking for further documentation of the Beaman family in Buffalo Grove. He "understands" Mary "Polly" Ball (a third cousin to George Washington) died in Buffalo Grove here in Ogle County in 1854 or 1755. Benjamin moved to Kansas, along with the Beamans, and was buried, at age 87, in the Lynn Creek Cemetery, Berryton, KS. This gentleman wants to know if we can "proof" the grave of Mary "Polly" Ball, as being in Ogle County or neighboring county? He has sent me copies of original letters, one written in 1849 from Rossville, OH to Buffalo Grove to the SWENA family and another two written in 1860 from LORENZO DOW WINDER to his brother JOSEPH K WINDER, Pvt. Co. "G" of the 39th, IL Volunteer of Mount Morris and his reply back. He is asking for any information on the WINDER brothers or family in Ogle County. If anyone on this List has any information, would you please e-mail me and I will put him in touch with you. This List is fantastic and has been most helpful to me in the past. I look forward to hearing from someone that might have information on this family.
