I repost my query hoping someone might have the clue I need. Cornelius Bassett was born 16 April 1789 Chilmark Ma, died 1 mah 1865 no location, married Elizabeth Cushing abt 1817 Schenectady Ny. She was born 3 Dec 1798 died 1837 Andes NY. He is on the 1850 and 1860 Buffalo Twp Fed Census. The last reference I have on him is on an 1864 Deed Book 34 p 50 LDS Film 1415818 3 Feb. 1864" Land sale between Cornelius Bassett and Murray Higley, by letter through his William Illingworth his Attorney. Southwest quarter of the southeast quarter of Section 7 Town Twenty three North of Range Eight east 4th PM. Ogle Co. Ill. On this 6 day of February 1864 before me ____ Public in and for said County appeared William Illingworth and acknowledged that he has executed the within instrument on the Act and Deed of Cornelius Bassett by virtue of a Letter of Attorney to his grantee therefor of said Bassett and of record in Ogle County Reced. Witness my hand and seal the day and year above written James C. Luckey. It says Cornelius is of Delaware Co. NY. What I don't know is whether he had moved back to that area, or was still in Ogle Co at the time of the sale. I am trying to find where he died so I can look for his Will. I hope he has listed the names of his children. I believe he had a daughter Joanna b abt 1826 who married Searing Tompkins, 12 Mad 1843 in NY. I have looked everywhere I know to look to find his death, and some record of her birth. I visited Delaware Co. last summer. Can any one help? Marita
