Transcribed from photocopies of originals. OREGON - Mary J. Colson, 79, 705 N. Sixth St., died April 4 in KSB Hospital, Dixon, after a short illness. Born Sept. 19, 1912 in Oregon, she was the daughter of John and Mabel Davis Gearhart. She married Leo "Hop" Colson in Dixon on June 5, 1930; he died March 8, 1965. She graduated from Oregon High School. She was a member of Oregon United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of the church. She was director of Ogle County Historical Society, volunteer worker for Yellow Bird Senior Citizen Center, social member of Oregon VFW and Mt. Morris Moose Lodge. Survivors include sons, Ronald Colson, Oregon, and Dennis Colson, Grand Detour; daughter, Judy Eggestein, Jacksonville, Fla.; and brother, Kenneth (Margaret) Gearhart, Oregon. Services were held April 8 in Oregon United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Jacobs, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Chapel Hill Memorial Park, Dixon. A memorial fund is being established.
